I do use dual boot, but still have Winboat on the Linux side because some windows specific apps that aren't demanding. The ones that are demanding in performance are the ones that I use on Windows natively.

[-] thermogel@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 weeks ago

Torta ahogada (drowned sandwich, México) although not exactly soup, its almost both soup and sandwich in one dish (not soup bc its basically tomato sauce)

NO VINCULEN LA CURP (aún)

I had enough of big tech and their actions, so created this guide to make switching as easy as possible

I shared a version of this guide earlier this year, but felt a website was needed to unpack the different options fully. So after an unreasonable number of hours, I put together the necessary data and website.

I hope this is digestible enough for the average person to help those looking to take that first step, or for people who are equally passionate and want to get their friends or family involved.

Details:

Every time I post these guides, there is always feedback on things that can improve, or I got wrong. Please do share, as it is the best way for these to evolve!

Gmail can read your emails and attachments to train its AI, unless you opt out

Cross posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/39114169

How to opt out

Opting out requires you to change settings in two places, so I’ve tried to make it as easy to follow as possible. Feel free to let me know in the comments if I missed anything.

To fully opt out, you must turn off Gmail’s “Smart features” in two separate locations in your settings. Don’t miss one, or AI training may continue.

Step 1: Turn off Smart Features in Gmail, Chat, and Meet settings Open Gmail on your desktop or mobile app. Click the gear icon → See all settings (desktop) or Menu → Settings (mobile). Find the section called Smart Features in Gmail, Chat, and Meet. You’ll need to scroll down quite a bit. Smart features settings Uncheck this option. Scroll down and hit Save changes if on desktop. Step 2: Turn off Google Workspace Smart Features Still in Settings, locate Google Workspace smart features. Click on Manage Workspace smart feature settings. You’ll see two options: Smart features in Google Workspace and Smart features in other Google products. Smart feature settings Toggle both off. Save again in this screen. Step 3: Verify if both are off Make sure both toggles remain off. Refresh your Gmail app or sign out and back in to confirm changes. Why two places? Google separates “Workspace” smart features (email, chat, meet) from smart features used across other Google apps. To fully opt out of feeding your data into AI training, both must be disabled.

Note Your account might not show these settings enabled by default yet (mine didn’t). Google appears to be rolling this out gradually. But if you care about privacy and control, double-check your settings today.

Posting links usually causes shadowbanning/deletion.

[-] thermogel@lemmy.ml 3 points 5 months ago
  1. I'll try to reply here with evidence later.
  2. I agree, they probably dont GAF about the Fediverse, but I cant find a reason why i'm getting shadow-deleted? (not shadow banned)
  3. We can't neglect collectives and local communities that would benefit from organizing in decentralized ways. There is value on the effort of making people aware of the fediverse, and pushing for a migration and change. The particular video where I commented talked about how unethical social media is and state surveillance, so I was suggesting people to join the fediverse.

Open your eyes, you're not creating a better world by just gatekeeping.

There's a reason why they drugged soldiers in war. It sucks :/ they think of us as disposable once they fill us with patriotism propaganda.
