The suspend battery drain is likely due to using modern standby, the framework supports S3 sleep which I've found is not that bad with battery life

This is something a router would do, not a switch. You would need to have a router with multiple WAN ports so not most consumer routers
Have you just got it? You will need to plug it in as the battery gets disconnected with the BIOS option before shipping, plugging it in reconnects it
You can use an ethernet switch to have more ports, a 5 port one would be plenty for you, something like the Netgear GS305 is perfect and very cheap, typically under £20
Its a preorder as its a new product, at work we've had a batch 7 on order that has just recently shipped, after it has shipped, its about a week to get here
