I'm definitely a fan of Brown Bird! I was under the impression that it counted more as folk than country, though? (genres confuse me honestly)

What country music would you recommend to someone who wants to listen to some country that isn't bro/truck country? I know not all country music is Like That but unfortunately at the moment that's most of my experience with the genre and I want to broaden my horizons. Maybe some good gothic country or bluegrass suggestions?

(I am, of course, already familiar with Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton. Beyond that feel free to suggest even extremely obvious choices)

Some people unfortunately don't want to deny their pets anything, even if it's for their own good. I knew a woman who fed her dog chocolate ice cream because it was "too sad" to deny the dog or give it species-appropriate treats. Or people feeding ducks bread even though they know it's a bad idea just because doing it makes them feel good.

So, even if letting a cat free roam outside is bad for the cat, the neighbours, and the environment, and the owner knows that, letting their cat loose makes them feel better so outdoors they go.

I don't believe it's cruel for cats to be indoors, people just don't play with their cats enough or provide them enough enrichment.

Thanks! I've poked around the worldbuilding community on kbin, but haven't looked for any on lemmy yet.

Oh yeah, I've read that one before. Definitely a really neat magic system.

I looked it up and amazon says book four isn't coming out until October of next year? I guess that leaves plenty of time for rereading...

it looks great! I love seeing people DIY clothes

From a casual worldbuilding project of mine. Just four more countries to go until I finish the first continent. Don't mind the sameface syndrome and identical body types - I just made a basic base to get clothes designs done more easily.

I have not! I'm guessing Nemesis can't really be read as a standalone? I'll look into it regardless

I want to hear about your favorite books that include heists as a major element. Bonus points if it's set in a fantasy, sci-fi, or non-contemporary setting. (Basically I want something like Gentleman Bastards that's not just rereading Gentleman Bastards)

How the Word Is Passed by Clint Smith. Smith travels to eight places in America and one abroad to understand how each reckons with its relationship with American slavery and the linger effects in the present.

I'm also enjoying The Bird Way by Jennifer Ackerman.
