There are very few countries where torrenting is safe. Generally speaking: No. You can try file hosters or other platforms, or share a VPN with a friend or use services similar to a VPN. AFAIK there is not alternative that's as fast and convenient as Torrent, though.
I don't use it for daily tasks. I've been tinkering around with local LLMs for recreation. Roleplay, being my dungeon master in a text adventure. Telling it to be my "waifu". Or generating amateur short stories. At some time I'd like to practice my foreign language skills with it.
I haven't had good success with tasks that rely on "correctness" or factual information. However sometimes I have it draft an email for me or come up with an argumentation for a text that I'm writing. That happens every other week, not daily. And I generously edit and restructure it afterwards or just incorporate some of the paragraphs into my final result.
Can we get a bit more info? Does it run locally? What specs does it need? Which technology does it use, something open-ended like Whisper? Or something faster with a prefefined set of sentences like VOSK? Which TTS engine does it use? Does it do other languages than just English?
Just to weigh in for once, since this is a common reply... That is certainly correct. But I think most people already know. Nonetheless, for some reason they still decide to ask strangers on the internet. I believe some people have their own reasoning behind that. I guess I just wanted to say that. Ultimately it's not wrong to point out this is just a random and biased crowd of people who supposedly spend too much time on the internet. Some people also need to hear that.
Nah, I disagree. I think it's a general place to hang out and talk. And the community name and description don't include the word 'news'. There are other communities for that.
We'd have 1 post every two weeks and little to no engagement if this was about news only. Use a different community or a RSS feedreader for news.
Forget the pinephone as a daily driver. It is nice to play around with and having linux on your phone is awesome. But you can't really use it as a daily driver. You'll try it and it's going to end up in the drawer of unfinished projects. Trust me, I own a pinephone and I know other people who do.
There's nothing wrong with it. Just like 50 mild annoyances with anything you're trying to do with it and on top it's super slow, compared to any other smartphone.
As I read, the phone by Purism isn't much better and it's really expensive.
You can use Mumble instead of teamspeak.
Why remove all the filters and not just update?
Die sollen sich mal an die Menschen wenden, die Galeria-Kartstadt seit 25 Jahren künstlich am Leben erhalten. Wenn damit demnächst endgültig Schluss ist, brauchen die ja auch einen neuen Job.
Germany is more than Berlin and Munich. As a matter of fact, i know quite a few other cities that are much nicer and the cost of living there is way lower. Especially if you compare anything to Munich.
I'd say you're fine as long as you stick to the cities, even smaller ones. Maybe have a look at the exact place if you consider moving to the most provincial countryside in Bavaria or the east. And don't expect people there to speak english very well.
Considering 'conservative' people: The USA are on a different level than most of europe. 99% of conservatives here like things like health care. Many are okay with abortions being legal. And gas prices being high. And generally this country isn't divided into two political groups. Most germans will happily let you live your life, and won't bother you, even if they don't agree. There are a few assholes, however.
I'm not queer or from the south myself, so i don't really know what it's like to be queer there. I think it should be alright.

Not sure if this counts as "little" because it has to go into the oven for 45mins... But it's assembled in under 5 minutes and you can get rid of your old bananas that already turned brown:
Banana bread
4 Bananas, 80ml (vegetable) oil, 80g sugar, 250g flour, 2tsp baking powder, 1tsp vanilla sugar, some chocolate (drops).
Smash the bananas, mix in all the other ingredients to a smooth dough. Find some chocolate from christmas that's still laying around in the house, crush it and mix it in.
Bake it at 170°C. Takes 40-50min in a loaf pan. Don't forget to grase the pan before or use baking parchment.
Doesn't need any fancy ingredients like milk or eggs. And you can pretty much wing it. You can also experiment, put some cinnamon or oat flakes in... And don't bake it too well, I think it's best when it's still a bit gooey and moist inside.
