I remember about 2 years ago on the horror subreddit, there was a discussion about how the new Candyman was gonna be all political unlike the original and people were so sick of horror movies injecting social commentary all the time. I stopped taking that sub seriously after that.

It's the same energy as the reddit users that go all the way to /r/vegan just to post counterarguments on like any post or say shit like "steak tastes good" in order to own the vegoons. Then they immediately throw a hissy fit about vegans shoving their beliefs down their throat.

Like, I'm still a baby vegan or whatever, but even in the beforetimes, I saw a substantially greater number of non-vegans being aggressive towards vegans than the other way around. Like, we get it Chad, bacon is amazing, and you need cow titty juice because protein is super important to you and there is no other way you could get an adequate amount.

Sorry about the mini rant lol.

So this will be us Millennials' 4th or 5th once in a lifetime crisis? I've simply lost count.

My favorite story after I came over to the veganside:

At my last job a co-worker called my for help on a system and went on a 5 minute unprovoked tirade about vegans. Like just went off and went down the list checking each carnist talking point along the way. Just very unhinged.

After he got done, I said " you know I'm vegan, right?"

This mother fucker went on and said " oh well I don't care what vegans eat as long as they don't shove it down my throat."

And I'm not even joking but the next thing he fucking said was "you eat chicken tho right?"

You can't write this shit.

I also heard Charles Mark last week say that in order for communism to succeed the means of production would have to be siezed by the booger-gee. Otherwise the proleterryate would end up with all the money. Then he went off and killed 67 gorbillion people with his bare hands and took my stuff.

I was gonna mention the last time I think you asked this. I take it you aren't stateside.

First it becomes insolvent, then after a while it longer it goes into default. This is when it gets sent to a collection agency(and it will pass from one agency to another because the get sick of sending you letters and calling you 17,458 times a month.) All this time it will still accrue interest at like 9%. After they get sick of trying to collect, the gov can get involved and withhold our tax returns or garnish our wages.

To put that interest into perspective, I have the ability to pay a monthly amount based on my wages. Before the pandemic, when I was able to pay, the amount was so low and the interest was so high that I wasn't able to pay more than what I was accruing.

Life kind of sucks right now and idk why. I'm in a weird state of depression right now. Been a depression enjoyer for most of my life but this funk is new. It feels like I'm just going through the motions.

I turned 40 this year and last year I finally got a programming job after graduating with a degree 7 years ago. How's that for the job market, huh? But now I'm starting to think I just don't have the brain for it. Each time I grasp something I think I'm good and then 5 minutes later I get stuck and feel like a total idiot again.

I keep thinking if I could do it again I would have gone for a degree in PolySci but even if I got into politics like I sort of want to(and no real idea even where to start) it's the fucking US so at best I'd have to play the part of reformist and sound to the public like it was "left of center" to even get anywhere. And at worst I'd have to cuck up to the Dems and not get anywhere with policy, so it just seems pointless. Watching the first half of Requiem for an American Dream from Chomsky doesn't help this mood lol.

I was getting ready to work on the early stuff to try and get a CPUSA chapter here but after the drama from this weekend I'm hesitant. We don't have any real org here aside from DSA and they have gone radio silent. The big Chicago conference is this weekend and I'm gonna try and tune in to that and see what it's all about. Donno where to go from there tho. We have a handful of leftist orgs but we are fragmented. It makes me feel like a curmudgeon but I feel like we need to figure out how to unify the left if we want any change but that keeps going back to reformist thought.

Ok back to work...

We are essentially conditioned at a fairly early age to assume that our healthcare is the best in the world. It wasn't until my late 20s-early 30s until I realized how asinine it was to have our employer be in charge of our healthcare.

And even with that we get these different packages that we can pick from and where we can pay more or less out of pocket and we use big fucking words like deductable ro make things even harder for us as peasants to navigate.

After I became terminally online I started to see astroturf style brigading about Canadian and UK healthcare from people saying that waits are hours long and sometimes procedures will have a 3 month waiting list or whatever and I know it's all all slant and propaganda.

There is nothing we can really even do about it. I've even lost family over arguments about it. When you read that most of Europe pays like 5-8% for healthcare for everyone and we pay 35% of our check for just our own family coverage it really makes me angry.
