I'm seeing more people move that direction. It's worth keeping an eye on it.

I think this is definitely the way to go! Just waiting on qbit now. VPNs are starting to feel dated (to me) for torrent use, but still great for privacy.
They're generalist predators. Anything that isn't going to eat the spider will work as long as your new friend can catch it. Meal worms should be cheap and easy if you're looking for a longterm relationship.
My vote goes to ivpn and Proton (in that order).
That works pretty well; it's not as polished as the geti2p docker, but it gets the job done! Just need to wait on qBittorrent to firm up their i2p support and I think it'll be golden for my needs. Thanks!!
Yeah, ironic. A medium that should encourage vibrant communication and idea exchange has instead nurtured ignorance and hate. 🤦♀️ Thanks for your post!
Oh, interesting! I didn't know the captchas were crap (how I feel about captchas anyway) on Lemmy. TIL. Seems like upgrading now has more benefit then; carry on and ignore me.
All fine points and I can't argue against those! Just my personal preference where I don't mind being miserable for another few days, particularly in the case where important anti-bot features are missing.
I don't see any wrong answer; both options have advantages. Personally, we've already waited this long, what's another few days?
Have you always needed a separate indexer? I vaguely recall using Usenet a decade ago and being able to download directly from the thread I was browsing. Do some providers include an indexer with the Usenet subscription?
You put the tw2002 door on it and I’m so there!
Yep, works fine (afaik)!
