I've just installed it on both devices. Thanks!

Ooooh, I didn't know about that. Thanks!

I disabled antivirus, tried again, and was told W11 home was already permanently activated. No upgrade-to-pro option. Oh, well.

Thanks. I've done the iTunes thing & find it cumbersome. Remote-sharing apps require that the OS permit remote sharing. W11 home version doesn't.

Thanks. That works. Just looking for something a little less cumbersome.

Thanks. Done that. Trying to do it without the cable.

I tried MAS & got this error msg. Maybe I'll go offline, turn off antivirus, & try again. If I understand correctly, no remote-control apps will work unless that's enabled in Windows.

Yes. I've used all of them, back to XP, & before that, MS-DOS. I bought a new computer a couple of years ago, & W11 came with it.

One of these days... I like my apps. I understand there aren't as many available for Linux.

Ahoy! I want to share files between iphone & pc. I just discovered that W11 home edition doesn't allow remote access. Microsoft wants $99USD to upgrade to pro. Does anyone know of alternative means? Thanks.

JSTOR downloads (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

I want to download an article from JSTOR without paying $34. It's from 1958. That's outrageous.

Aside from wanting just text on my screen, without all the visual clutter, I want to be able to highlight & look up or translate. They've messed click-&-drag copying. If you try to copy a block of text, you don't get the 1st and last few characters from each line. If you highlight a word or 2 to look up or translate, you don't get all the characters you highlighted but you do get some you didn't want. Also, I like being able to highlight a PDF I own.

Didn't JSTOR used to give a couple of freebies/month or something like that?

Thanks.

I got a DVD, never used with cellophane intact, produced in 1993 on ebay. I thought maybe, since I didn't get a DRM warning, it predated DRM, and I could just copy it to my hard drive, so I did. Both the copy and the DVD are now corrupted and unplayable. I want to fix the DVD then rip it to my hard drive. Googling gives plenty of suggestions for ripping but none for fixing. Please help if you can. Thanks.

Today, for the first time, I couldn't use iplayer. As usual, I switched country to UK, cleared browsing data, deleted everything from temp app data file before going there. Was using Firefox. Tried same procedure with Epic browser. Same result. Chatted with Nord support. They wanted screenshots of results from dnsleaktest dot com. Tech said wait while they checked it out. After a little while, chat terminated. Created a ticket via email.

Have BBC finally made themselves bullet-proof?

Does anybody know of a way past their paywall? thanks.

Wolff discusses how municipal socialism might start, the relationship between worker coops and local residents, among other things.

New Democracy@Work team. Videographers don't get it together until 7-8 mins in. Private video. If link doesn't work, comment and I'll remove post.

The 1st 15 mins are year-old news. The 2nd 15 mins are a discussion between a marxist scholar and a Christian-socialist scholar.

I got there from the link on their Wikipedia page pirate captain laughing

It's an audio podcast, ~1/2 hr long.
