Thank goodness for distro repositories with somewhat-vetted software.

I wonder if Costco stock is a good buy right now. Currently $937 up from $300 in 2020. A P/E of 55, with 0.5% annual dividends paid quarterly.

With the new risk of being targeted by MAGAs for a boycott, I could see that being a problem. I don't think Costco's survival as a corporation depends on its stock. They do stock buybacks, which is going to be artificially inflating the price a bit.

If it drops significantly, I could see it being worth the pickup. Maybe I'll sell some long put options.

I half expected this to end with jumper cables. Quite a ride, though.

Oh gods... the man really is an idiot. :( At least Harper was shrewd.

He may be too dumb to be effective politically, I hope.

The Long Dark. Something about wandering an icy wasteland scavenging, hunting, fishing, works for me.

Linux has had a long history of worms and viruses, fortunately (sorta) thanks to its server legacy. Dumb and lazy server admins have given it pretty good 'secure by default' behaviours and cultures.

Desktop users though: whole different set of challenges.

I've had coca leaves. Meh. Basically caffeine. The only problem is that they can be refined into cocaine, and the effort required to turn coca into cocaine compared to making fentanyl just makes that particular restriction extra stupid.

They need an equatorial rainforest climate to grow in economic quantities anyhow. Nobody is going to import literal tons of coca leaves to make trifling amounts of cocaine.

I might find that reassuring in 1923, if the world makes it a full 100 years with only one global scale war. It's a great run by historic standards.

Now listen here you little shit

It would be cool if the GNU project sponsored a new updated 'standard' set of tools though.

Sometimes being an expert makes you leave the beaten path and get stuck in the weeds whereas a newbie would have blindly followed instructions. I get caught by that sometimes.
