This would have only had a chance of working prior to adblockers becoming so rampant. They're over a decade too late and now advertisers are just viewed as "the enemy"
I didn't go through these phases I just pray to the Omnissiah and sacrifice an HP printer when it doesn't work
New Mexico requires you to be licensed to concealed carry doesn't it? Curious what this accomplishes, how many licensed concealed carry holders are aggressors in a crime?
Yeah and whatever you do definitely don't use Jellyseerr for Jellyfin setups or Overseerr for Plex setups
Yep and reddit is slowly closing themselves off, I wouldn't doubt you eventually have to be logged in to even view anything.
Forums are still around but it's usually just the older established ones (I'm on stangnet.com and corral.net regularly but they're car related so lots of technical info). Everything new either went Reddit or Discord it feels like and I'll never install Discord.
I think Jellyfin started a forum post reddit but I haven't gone looking yet for that one.
Information is absolutely getting harder to find online and if archive.org goes down we're really screwed
Home assistant really is a game changer. Not having ten different apps is great, finally got our roomba fully offlined with rest980 and it works better than the official app and doesn't take forever to load or abrupty stop when there's an aws outage
AirVPN, for over a decade and they've kept my ports the whole time
I used to think people who downloaded videos on YouTube, forum posts with guides or useful info and other data were weird.
They were right.
With archive.org under threat some of it will be gone for good unfortunately. Save what you can when you can it might not be there later.
My longest lived backlog task is 3 years old
I can understand seeing them after a refresh, but visiting my user profile not logged in from Tor and showing everything deleted then having it all come back 2-3 weeks later is a little shady. I just checked my account again after my 3rd powerdeletesuite run since the shutdowns and I had one single comment restored (despite shredding before delete but maybe that failed)
This is by no means a quick replacement but it is private. I went with wyze cams, wz_mini_hacks firmware, put them on a vlan with no access outside of it including the internet. I have Frigate pulling the video from them and doing detection with a Coral USB accelerator and homeassistant for alerts. Amcrest doorbells seem good but honestly I stuck a ZigBee motion sensor by the door and between that and the two cameras watching the front I know who's there and if I don't want to answer I just ignore them. The only way it will be private is if the data never leaves your network so it's unfortunately a bit of work but a fun project if you're into that kind of stuff!
Not worrying about bait&switch with a company removing device features and forcing a subscription is why I did it after those stupid Canary cameras burned me.

That thing when you accidentally swallow the smallest amount of spit the wrong way and start coughing like mad
