Not at all my bro. To be fair I came with a curiosity around the sign up process. Wasn't too comfortable on the having to give my email to sign up. I was of the impression both it and this were fairly similar but it definitely threw me a bit needing to give an email. Just got into a conversation then around it as ive been exploring alternatives since getting the boot from Reddit.

My pleasure!

Nah i'm with you on that one 100% as well. As someone that's been in the crypto space for years now. (More than I would like to admit). Crypto Twitter for example is a cesspit. I find myself enjoying Mirage more so now due to the fact it's not too dominated with Crypto content. Far from it at this stage. Plus there's no algo, it's all opt in/opt out self moderation, which suits me also.

But I hear you on the crypto culture 100%.

Makes sense man. Still finding my way around on here. Looking for a new home post Reddit ban. Mirage and here both looking great so far.

It's relatively new but definitely growing a lot over the last few weeks bud! I've been finding myself enjoying it and checking it as much as I would my twitter during the day! Worth checking out 100%.

Yo everyone, what's good? Lemmy virgin here, just got signed up after being banned on Reddit for my opinions and takes on Israel (lol) hoping here isn't the same.

Question though if anyone can help me. I'd been testing out and using Mirage before this and what I really liked over there was the fact I had to give no personal info when signing up. It seems to be more privacy focused. I had to give my personal email to sign up here on Lemmy. But then I seen someone commenting on a topic on privacy that they didn't? Have I done something wrong?

I much prefer operating on these forums without giving any info about myself, like on Mirage for example. Can anyone advise?

I only noticed this shit recently man after the Israel/Twitter stuff. I always run a link through claude now to clean it first before posting anywhere. Sounds paranoid but fuck it makes me feel much more comfortable about it.

Does Lemmy track? I'm new here

Brother holy fuck lol if i could high 5 you rn I would. Exact same for me. I lost my Twitter account back in the Covid days and have seen the way it's went with Elon regarding the Israel issue. Unbelievably hard to bite my tongue on there but I don't want to lost my twitter account after getting it back.

Reddit it was gone in a blink. Mirage to its credit, they market themselves as an absolute free speech platform so i've found my takes being received a lot better on there on the israel issue. Reassuring af that I can finally vent somewhere online without fear of any blowback, if that makes sense

Based. I care because personally I just got banned and came here to see what others are saying lol

Just discovered Lemmy. Have been playing around a lot with Mirage in recent weeks and been enjoying it on there too but thought why not have a look here also to see!

*was disappointed that I had to give my personal email to sign up here, didnt have to do that with Mirage

What's the end game do you think?

[-] phatpipe69@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

Facts bro. Just got banned myself. Fuck them.

Yo. I'm new here on Lemmy. Was recently banned on Reddit. Have just been surfing a few posts to get the rundown on how Lemmy works vs Reddit.

I seen someone on here saying they didn't have to provide an email to sign up here, but I did? What's that about? It almost put me off signing off completely to be honest as i've been trying out Mirage a lot lately also and they operate differently entirely. No personal information required at all. So when I decided to give it a go here it threw me a bit.

Anyone any idea?

To be honest, I got banned off Reddit a few weeks ago and was surprised when I signed up here that i'd have to give my email. I thought from what i'd read on Reddit that Lemmy was decentralised?? Hate giving up any of my personal information for these online forums. I came here to try it after also trying Mirage and their sign up process required no personal information input which was good but I thought f*ck it i'll give it a look on here as well. Is there any way around it? Has anyone else tried Mirage?
