i cant agree with this. the only ones who wanted trump in office either would gain financially or were flat out brainwashed into ignoring this pedophilic rapist shitheads actual, documented behavior.

theres really no excuse but ignorance, malice or greed. pick one. this pathetic waste of human flesh was well known as slime by anyone who cared to know well before he was elected.

not really a falsehood if youre just directly quoting someone as stating they are going to do something, and then pointing out that that thing did not happen.

i think its called "reporting"

is this the same bullshit they pull in the US where they suck all the funding out of a perfectly functioning system, which cripples it. then they get to point at that system as a failure the only answer to which seems to be 'privatization'?

youre right, the hardware will never go away.... but there are many in the cloud-only corporate space where hardware is almost irrelevant as every single piece of software, including windows, is provisioned from the net. thats today. whats tomorrow going to look like for retail?

i have more sympathy than anything else for them. i see them as a very sad lot, who desperately need psychiatric counseling and for many, an actual education.

dehumanizing them dehumanizes you

i just shut down a worlgroup server a few years ago... mostly up for majormud.

i with those asshats at the majorbbs restoration project would just release all the source code. they clutch those pearls like theyre valuable in some way

dont overthink it.. servers/workstations rsync to a nas, then sync that nas to another nas offsite.

i think discord started as an irc extension, which is why it still has a ton of hooks for it

its about the big datasets required to train systems to interact with and generate content as human beings... as usual, its a profit motive.

3 of the top 4 results for me are fediverse related when searching for "lemmy".

I don't think its the signing up, its the lack of centralization/community. reddit was a singularity, the community is protesting en-masse because they felt they were all part of the same thing.

to me, the fediverse is a segmented.. oddly connected group of overlapping communities. it lacks cohesion.

wont someone think of the chil...community!

this is obvious cover... a bot-generated paper trail for when they 'are forced to act on behalf of the community'

long time listener first time caller. been on reddit 15+, but the end is nigh. I have never used 3rd party apps.. always found the old, mostly-text layout completely sufficient for mobile browser use.

but... solidarity, ya know? i will need this plugin to prevent fallin off the wagon.
