Autocracies grow through slow erosion of institutions... As much as people hate institutions, they annoy autocratic wannabes moreso! Every slight movement against institutions like courts etc is a movement towards autocracy. It's a shame people don't realise until it's too late though.. Kind if like when you realise you're fat and need to hit the gym, its hard work undoing it.
