Because a link like that is lazy and sarcastic, a bit like posting a lmgfy link
Mint forever, Ubuntu without the snaps, and It generally is fuss free.
Shout-out to antiX though, revived many a "useless" old laptop with that.
Oh, sorry we're base 22
Found that on day one, pretty sure it's even in the instructions not to put the sensor somewhere you'll put pressure on.
I use it for the Kindle app on my surface pro3 to read magazines.
Kindle unlimited gives free access to magazines, but only on kindle android app NOT on kindle web or Linux.
Ventoy for most, but some stuff doesn't work with correctly when booted from ventoy:
-
ChromeOS Flex won't install to internal drive when ventoy booted, it will when flashed directly to a usb.
-
also had Linux Mint 22 try to install to the ventoy drive (wiping it and then crashing halfway through)
-
and dealing with really old 32bit bios laptops you'll have to use direct usb too (AntiX still supports 32bit)
"Never used Linux," They say, typing on a chromebook or android phone, before picking up their steamdeck.
A Chromebook /chromeOS is mostly a PC without apps.
1GB RAM is tough for a GUI and Firefox, maybe AntiX will work
Really need a minimum of 2GB then you can run ChromeOS Flex, or Linux Mint XFCE
