Yeah. I get it. It's good for old devices to be useful for years to come.

What about the battery though? Having a device with an old battery plugged in the socket 24/7 is a fire hazard.

I would love to use my old nexus 10 with this perfect screen today. There is still no way to use a mobile device without a battery plugged in...

Make sure to check for camera support. When I unlocked the bootloader from an old Xperia phone, camera performance was reduced a lot.

Pictures were never the same after that.

Do not get me wrong. I used to love custom ROMs since the days of android 1.6.

But if I pay 500€ and more for a phone I would not risk to unlock the bootloader. For my specific device (Samsung A52s) the camera app does not even open if I unlock the bootloader using the stock ROM.

Unfortunately it is not feasible for every day use. Camera, payments, netflix...

For an old phone, yes. It's a good idea.
