i saw one IRL today for the first time. was walking past the dealership in Chicago and they had one on display

there's a Rolls Royce and Maserati dealer a few block away. what i thought at the time is that these are toys for the rich to show off, publicity for the South African, and nothing more

these are large industries with a lot of muscle. I'm sure the deal they struck with Uber eats doesn't include an option to "turn off" these offers

OSHA would say having a Windows install is a potential hazard because it can become dangerous if activated. To remedy, you must remove the hazard.

Safety is no accident.

I don't understand. What's the difference? One one hand, energy production is distributed and on the other it's centralized.

What I mean is, if eveyone had solar then we would have a "public, at-scale renewable energy project"

Should be illegal to teach science in Texas? Oil and gas were created by God, it's His will that we burn it.

Thy will be done, amen.

if you penalize non-violent protests, don't be surprised when infrastructure bombings or worse begin to occur...

6% of Australian GDP is from mining and a large percentage of that is coal, could be related. Also, Australia has some pretty draconian laws in other circumstances as well so maybe it's just par for the course.

In filings submitted to the New York state regulatory authority, other prominent offshore wind developers, such as Norway's energy major Equinor and British oil major BP, have officially requested a staggering 54% increase in the price of electricity generated at three planned offshore wind farms.

Author notes supply chain volatility for the increased price for offshore wind as well as cancelled projects. Since, this comes from OilPrice.com, idk if I believe the authors analysis but prices did go up and projects were cancelled.

During several days of the heat wave this summer ... ERCOT was obliged to request that Texans cut back on their use of electricity during the late afternoon and early evening hours [to avoid blackouts]

The problem is that Texas has invested heavily in wind and solar power... [and] during several days in August, the wind was not blowing enough for Texas’s wind farms to operate at optimal capacity. At the same time, as the sun went down, Texas’s solar arrays gradually stopped providing power as well.

TX is in a unique place since their grid is not interconnected.

Coal India on Friday reported a 13.2% rise in its coal production last month at 52.3 million tonne (MT) of coal in August on a year-on-year basis. In August 2022, the public sector major produced 46.2 MT.

At a growth rate of 13.2% per year, Coal India will double their August production in 5 years. That's an insane rate of growth. (~100MT by the end of 2029) Anyone know what India is doing to curb coal extraction?

The cable will run from the 49.9MW Willows Green Solar Farm near Felsted will the built mainly under roads for 5.3km east of the proposed solar farm to Braintree Substation near Galleys Corner.

At full capacity, 50MW is enough to power ~60,000 homes! That's enough for nearly 10% of all of Essex. Glad these are getting connected even though there's plenty of North Sea oil and gas. UK! UK! UK!

Well done NM! It's great to see a project navigate so many miles of the American interior successfully. Kudos

To cut emissions from operations, Equinor says that both rigs have been revamped with energy-saving procedures and work methods.

I wonder if the author thought this was silly as it was being written

My hometown was destroyed by Sandy. Homes were destroyed and my neighbors, including my grandparents, left. I should have evacuated. Flordia needs a new governor.
