I bought a stainless band and wear that. I never was a high end watch guy, and I’m not sure I want to be. I know it’s considered sacrilege to some to wear a sport watch with dress, but I don’t care. More people notice if you are fit, your suit is tailored nicely, and your footwear is on point than they do your wrist.

This is not a thing I worry about, as my understanding is that the risk is negligible, if it exists at all.
Series 9, 41mm (there's no diff in battery life between 41 and 44mm.) As for anxiety-producing notifications, they are easily turned off and/or customized. Me, I recommend getting cellular as well, for the occasional call and being able to leave your phone behind for errands and walks, etc. They are great.
Battery battery battery. Durability. Able to actually use the apps, take some calls, keep features running with juice to spare. Worth it totally.
Yes, if I were hanging out with people impressed by such things. I'm a quiet luxury kinda guy :)
