What is a self-hosted app/os/service/ect that is widely "known" as being fully open source, but it actually relies significantly on closed source software? in c/[email protected]

What is the point of vaultwarden? Is it safer or less safe than using the bitwarden app/website? in c/[email protected]

Different people have different risk tolerances and amount of resources to dedicate to securing this stuff.

Personally, I'm going to use KeePassXC, and be responsible for 1 single file before I host an entire back end server system.
