I find it odd that a new policy is given preference even if a restraining order wins, and the courts suspend any restraining orders pending the appeals. The new policy should be blocked pending appeal instead, if the policy changes a long held status quo.

The danger is that with only two candidates, the GOP could get the first and second highest votes on the primary, making a GOP governor a certainly (the November ballot would only have GOP candidates on it). I'm glad someone pulled ahead.

At least in my community in CA, we expanded safe housing for the unhoused by opening several hundred mini apartments in a converted motel, and a new five story building, in association with a non-profit, Mercy House. The two sites have social services on site, with career counseling available, social services, etc. I guess it's a modified "housing first" model that seems to be working.

I can't find direct references to trans people in Scripture. But one aspect, intersex people, seem to be recognized by Jesus in his statement in Mt. 19:12

"For there are eunuchs who have been so from birth, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let anyone accept this who can.”

Eunuchs were "gender outsiders" in that day, but this passage and the ones in Acts 8:26 show God's concern for not excluding outsiders. The author takes care in those passages to repeatedly state it was the angel of the Lord directing Philip to welcome the eunuch into the faith.
