I'd flip this on it's head, as I don't by default use any of the native apps except for maybe calendar and contacts. Not for any particular reason.. I just like the platform that apple has for an OS, but I prefer to leverage that with 3rd party software.
iOS apps are by far more stable and better supported/written.
