Of all the dumb shit he's said and continues to say, the raking the forest one in the context of forest fires, at it's core, seems in line with what I'd encountered on the topic of forest management in regards to brush clearing and creating fire gaps as part of a comprehensive strategy of preventative measures and proper debris disposal.

I don't recall the specifics of the original quote, so I'm sure I'm just missing the explicit context that embodied his buffoonery, but this criticism always seemed more forced to me, taken literally to the point of absurdity, for the lulz, when there's so much legitimate criticism of him elsewhere. Of course, I could just be an idiot rationalizing my own foolish understanding of forestry, haha.

Used my Topodon this morning to find where I was losing the most heat around the house after all the weatherization and prepping I'd done. Was pleasantly surprised how most areas were holding up, but it definitely helped narrow focus where I still had plenty of gaps, definitely worth it for the insights.

You can see his legs below the boat as he falls into the water. Love reading this whenever I see this painting.

Musee des Beaux Arts W. H. Auden

*About suffering they were never wrong, The old Masters: how well they understood Its human position: how it takes place While someone else is eating or opening a window or just walking dully along; How, when the aged are reverently, passionately waiting For the miraculous birth, there always must be Children who did not specially want it to happen, skating On a pond at the edge of the wood: They never forgot That even the dreadful martyrdom must run its course Anyhow in a corner, some untidy spot Where the dogs go on with their doggy life and the torturer's horse Scratches its innocent behind on a tree.

In Breughel's Icarus, for instance: how everything turns away Quite leisurely from the disaster; the ploughman may Have heard the splash, the forsaken cry, But for him it was not an important failure; the sun shone As it had to on the white legs disappearing into the green Water, and the expensive delicate ship that must have seen Something amazing, a boy falling out of the sky, Had somewhere to get to and sailed calmly on.*
