Probably because they feel aligned with her values and see her success as an indicator that she is smart. Therefore, she is someone worth emulating.

Agreed. I quit my IT job and started volunteering on a a farm animal rescue and it has become a whole thing for me. There are always things to be fixed, built, or town down in addition to days of just mucking stalls which is very meditative. Definitely lefty friendly.

Alternatively, go back to school. I am also pursuing a new degree in Electronics Engineering Technology which can lead to a good trade job or an OT role.

I can't help but think of Gulag Archipelago when Stalin had all the engineers arrested for "wrecking" because they could not make nonsensical orders lead to the desired output. In any industry.

Better question... how do we find our own self-esteem without denigrating others for making choices that are absolutely none of our concern?

This is really interesting. It brings two questions to mind.

  1. Don't all messaging apps use phone number as a primary metadata value?

  2. Are you suggesting that Signal could either not use this metadata or not collect it and yet they choose to collect it and can therefore lose it to exfiltration or warrant?
