I love Dune more than anything outside of Hitchhiker's Guide, but I don't think Paul really fits here. He's double special before the spice.

I insisted on calling them this throughout high school because I thought the word hoodie was dumb. Tbh I was probably annoying about it. Eventually I caved, but I still think hoodie is kind of a dumb word. So is jumper for what it's worth.

Pardon my ignorance, but I thought a "weeb" was someone who obsessed over Japanese culture in general, not just anime. So let's say I have a degree in Japanese studies but don't geek out over anime, am I still a weeb?
I had no idea they weren't internationally renowned, but I grew up listening to 89x so I guess it would make sense that I knew of them despite being American.
And I think this is the crux of the problem and where most of the hate comes from. You can have a good kaiju movie without Godzilla, but can you have a good Godzilla movie without Godzilla? I would argue that no, you can't. I would also argue that the monster from that movie wasn't Godzilla... it was Matthew Broderick. /rimshot
But seriously, a lot less people would have ragged on that movie had they given it a different name, but arguably a lot less people would have seen it if they had given a different name. 🤷
