I've never seen an AFD guy on lemmy, this is a first for me.

Well, there is this:

edit: see comment below

Otherwise, I think the best way to go forward is just to watch tutorials and practice. I made the transition several years ago, and it helped to have the expectation similar to learning a new language. The more you accept that you will have to take it slow and look everything up at the beginning, the better your experience will be.

The only conflict that matters is the class conflict. Everything else is a distraction. Eat the rich.

Damn, you got some harsh comments for just posting a YT link.

Thanks for posting. We need to grow the fediverse, and low-effort stuff like this helps too.

You just called luddites idiots, and then proceeded to suggest they embrace..the core tenants of luddism.

Hmmmmmm...did you read the atricle?

Turning the format on its head, lovely. And with Quark, no less. >chef's kiss<

I have been using bazzite for over a year after starting with ubuntu, and then doing a "I'm doing everything myself" arch install (I learned SO MUCH).

I love it. I got a little frustrated about some of the package installation restrictions, but then I read about distrobox, and now I have an arch box, a ubuntu box, and an ollama box running a local LLM. No more problems with finding CLI programs. I even used the arch box to run adb and fastboot to flash android stuff, it worked flawlessly.

And of course gaming and standard desktop tasks work with zero problems. Next I'm going to convert my wife's Windows 10 PC to bazzite, and setup excel and some proprietary software for her.

All art is a deeply subjective and personal experience, both in the creation and in the viewing. Your comment speaks volumes about what this piece of artwork evokes inside you.

For me, it evoked a pleasant chuckle. I saw a socially inept man first making a woman uncomfortable with his staring, then trying to garner similar attention in a misguided way. I didn't see anyone oppressing anyone, no burqas or toxic masculinity. Just a silly joke.

Looks cool!

Just a suggestion: If you do want to find people to play with, you should try meetup.com, I met my RPG group there, and we've been playing weekly for almost 20 years now.

Linux Antivirus? (lemmy.wtf)
submitted 5 months ago by UNY0N@lemmy.wtf to c/linux@lemmy.world

I'm about to install bazzite on my wife's older (2017) Windows 10 machine, and I've been going over how to recreate everything she currently has. Most programs (even proprietary ones) are not an issue, but I'm not finding much in the antivirus department.

I never even thought to install one on my Linux machine (also on bazzite, but I have used other distros in the past). So although I am no stranger to Linux, this issue blindsided me.

I know clamav exists, and I'm educating myself on how to use it, but a GUI would be nice for the wife. She's not afraid of the terminal, but she likes the convenience of GUI programs.

Any suggestions? What do you use? Or is it just generally accepted that one should be careful and keep things up-to-date and that's enough?

I'm extremely happy with bazzite, it's basically impossible to break, and great for gaming.

Just be aware that it is very focused on flatpaks, so installing anything that doesn't have a flatpak version does require some extra steps.

Postmarket OS isn't? Oh whoa, I just checked for myself, I had no idea, thought it was aosp too!

Cool, thanks for the correction.
