I love everything on Axis Bold as Love. Awesome album

Spotify has decided I need a mix of Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, Rodriguez and Fantastic Negrito as a salve for the week. This is excellent

I loved the fact they just dedicated the three/four mins to let Neil Patrick Harris just do his thing in a one hour special. Glorious

Risotto. Tomatoes and cheesy with olives. Simple and filling.

Also I ordered a busy people's box from Fairfeed and it's arriving tomorrow. 50 bucks for two serves each of soup, 2 mains and a side. Hoping I can use that in place of takeaway for late work nights

Tropical fruit smoothie please. And a tropical fish to look at to get in the mood of this weather

The bot fails on a Sunday, yeah? Bot boss ( can't remember who it is) have you double checked whether the days of the week count should be 0-6 or 1-7? POSIX time (e.g. if you have a cronjob set up) is 0-6 where sunday is 0.

Just a thought (and thanks for the Bot in the first place).

Finding myself on my own this Christmas day. Which is cool (just happens that the social bits are Chrismas eve and boxing day this year).

I am thinking of gifting myself a fancy lunch out. Has anyone done this solo? I am a not afraid to dine alone but worried about being a weirdo on Christmas. Any recommendations? I was looking at the state library but it's pretty expensive even for a treat.

For context the Torres Strait Islands are just off the north of Australia (the pointy bit to be precise) and are largely inhabited by first nations people. They are isolated geographically and rely on fishing and small scale gardening and farming to survive.

So this is a bit of a meta-question. I was going to post a question about tech (for context I am looking for a tablet/iPad to read journal papers) so I headed to the technology community. But all the posts are news articles and the description is along the lines of 'post happenings and innovations in tech...' so I chickened out. Same over at science and humanities (I was thinking a more acedemic community might be up for a convo about journal reading)...

I know Beehaw is really friendly and it probably wouldn't matter if I posted random questions in the "wrong" spot but I would like to be able to target my questions and convos and not just put everything in chat and AskBeehaw. But maybe that's the idea. News type posts by topic and convos in other communities to maximise the relatively small community?

I'm really interested to know what 'rules' other people use to decide where to post non-links. Or any more formal guidelines - Am I missing something?

Edit: and yeah I did (over)think about posting this in Beehaw support but I am more interested in hearing about other people's thoughts then asking a help question

From CNN link:

Hurricane Otis made landfall near Acapulco, Mexico, early Wednesday as a Category 5 storm, delivering what forecasters warned could be a “nightmare scenario” for Mexico’s southern coast as it threatens to cause catastrophic damage with destructive winds, heavy rainfall and storm surge.

Otis’ center slammed into Mexico’s coast around 12:25 a.m. local time with sustained winds of 165 mph, the National Hurricane Center said.

and this is the latest advisory from NOAA https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh/MIATCPEP3+shtml/250845.shtml

Apparently it built from a tropical storm to a Cat 5 in about 24 hours.

So I had a crash. My car has been assessed as a repairable write off and I have to decide if I push the insurer to repair or I take the payout. I owe no money but would be out of pocket to purchase new(ish). I was not intending to trade it in or sell in the foreseeable future.

I understand the process if I opt for a write off. If I push for repair I know it needs review and scutiny.

I am thinking of pushing for repair. Anyone else gone down that path? Any gotchas or experiences to share? I really am in two minds right now.

Edit: had long chat with the repairer and reviewed the damage and went with write off. Panels and all the suspension on one side was stuffed and needed replacement. The risk of other stuff being just out enough to cause future problems, and risk of issues from sitting out for months waiting on parts was just more than I wanted. Got a fair payout. Bye beasty. Thanks for crumpling so I didn't...

Anyone got a good suggestion for an online avatar generator? I kinda miss my reddit one but its time for a new start
