Well the issue with renewable power like wind and solar, is that they are not stable.

Having a battery in order to store the energy and release it when the demand is higher than production is one part of the solution.

But what happens when there wasn't enough solar and wind to replenish the batteries if those batteries aren't enough for the demand? Power shortages, which are pretty bad to get.

One of the solutions to this is natural gas for a simple reason : it's very fast to start generating power or to stop. It's also not very expensive, at least when there isn't a war... The co2 equivalent emissions aren't as high as coal either.

Nuclear power on the other hand is very hard to stop. Having a surplus of power on the grid is also very bad. Some of it could be used to recharge the batteries, but there would be some loss at some point.

The issue is that even the same brand can have multiple USB fingerprint scanners, which may not all work.

From a 4y old reddit thread some person found a fingerprint scanner which worked, but some other person who had a similar one didn't get it ot work.

Another article, much better and presents in more detail that Olvid was audited on an older version and chosen because it was French and they applied for it (French) https://www.numerama.com/tech/1575168-pourquoi-les-ministres-vont-devoir-renoncer-a-whatsapp-signal-et-telegram.html

Currently florisboard doesn't have prediction nor autocorrect prediction.

Due to complications in the development of that feature (either too heavy to run or not smart enough for prediction...) and the development of the app got stuck, until maybe recently where it seems to get some dev attraction on some topics.

Tho the prediction is still stuck. So you won't have yet prediction or smart things in this keyboard.

End to end encryption means user to user.

Not a local storage... Your example is just an encrypted storage, there is no end.

Most intel driver news you'll see will most certainly be about the ARC gpus. The integrated gpus not beeing that much worked on for performance and gaming.

Currently, there are some alternatives, or bluetooth versions which work pretty well.

Often wireless gaming brands offer a usb dongle. That dongle often uses a proprietary protocol over 2.4ghz. And allow enough bandwidth for audio and mic. Some brand give more or less bandwidth to the mic, or have better compression, or bandwidth.

And currently, there is a fairly "new", already here since bt 5.3 : LC3. It's a very well optimised protocol which allows for about the same quality at lower bandwidth than other protocol. It also has lower latency. This protocol has started to be used by gaming brands, like Creative, in a usb dongle. Or even in standalone headphones. On the Creative headset, it would allow enough bandwidth for audio and mic without much compromise (like if it wad a proprietary dongle).

Obviously the quality may not be as good as wired. But it should be enough for most people.

Huawei also seems to have announced (not sure if yet released, it should be in an honor phone), their bluetooth competitor. They say 6x faster (more bandwidth I guess) https://newatlas.com/mobile-technology/nearlink-wireless-huawei/.

There are some useful things in there, but it can get complicated. If i could get to Linux I wouldn't need a lot of this stuff, or at least I wouldn't need to think about it.

Tho I can't get to it yet (and no I'm not willing to do a windows vm), because of 2 things :

  • I'm playing warframe, and sometimes I open alecafrale in the background with the overlays to know what reward to pick. And it seems they overwolf and the app is not compatible with Linux, at least from what I could read.

  • I am using gpu virtualisation to share my pc occasionally with my brother. And on Linux, there is an alternative with LIBVF.IO. but sadly, not compatible with newer amd gpus, or at least from the tutorial and arch wiki, pretty complicated to make it run, if even possible.

When these 2 things would be fixed, maybe I'll consider it, if i don't have to switch to windows every 2 days...

As much as I disagree on paying 10$/m for a search engine, I will disagree with your take on their data sharing.

In their privacy policy https://kagi.com/privacy , they state that they collect logs :

  • Kagi server identification, configuration, and performance (CPU, RAM, etc.)
  • Identifiers that tell us what code paths were taken
  • Time measurements of individual steps of request fulfillment
  • Summaries of requests made to third parties

Absent from our logs are any identifying information about your client

Tho I'm not sure how they could fulfill these purposes :

  • Prevent abuse of our product from bad actors (DDOS, etc.)
  • Detecting abuse of our platform

With only logs on how the serice îs used anonymously.

They do send the logs to Sentry for analysis. But without any search query, from what they say.

You are. It's much more.

It's the extreme optimisation event. Glitch your way through to get lower amount of time possible, and farm as many formas as possible, and other stuff.

It's a space infestation coming to the plains, with a lephantis brother as a boss.

And damn I optimized the s out it the last time. Stay on that specific rock, to with wisp... To spawn the boss faster to that spot. And farmed the crap out of it. I got 250 formas from there (+ ghoulf saw, zaw heads and exodia contagion)

I don't think you look at it from the right way.

AI is already in a lot of people's lifes and they don't even notice it's that.

From your keyboard word correction and prediction, to power management, smart image edition and categorising and more.

And some things are done locally on your phone.

The increase in AI capability on phones can allow more things to be done locally, and maybe even get something like a local LLM to predict what you want to type. (LLM = large language model, like chatgpt, bard, Llama and others, they can be used for more than just answering your questions).
