Of course it was and politicians completely understand why. In business, like in politics, you "dance with the one who brung ya."

Who do politicians support special interest? It's because special interest dumps money into their campaigns and expects something in return, otherwise they back your opponent.

China is essential to Apple's supply chain and is worth billions to the company. Jon's show is a loss leader for Apple TV+ or whatever it's called. If Jon wants to criticize China, it makes complete business sense for Apple to tell him to do it elsewhere.

Apple's advertising on Twitter was basically an extortion payment. During one of Elon's manic episodes, he threatened to push for anti-trust scrutiny into the App store. TC threw a few million bucks at him and he shut up and went away and it was money well spent. That's how an actual business person thinks. The ROI on those investment dollars wasn't the advertising, it was mollifying a gadfly.

Now that Twitter is massively imploding. Apple has the air cover quietly cancel the extortion payment and Elon doesn't have the bandwidth at this point to threaten Apple.

Tim Cook might be the greatest of all time! S-Tier CEO. Elon Musk... D-Tier. Yaccarino... F-Tier.
