Indeed... As far as I know at least the Thunderbird donations are not going towards this, its Mozilla funded. I just cannot see that anyone asked or needed this, such a waste of time that should have gonw towards Thunderbird.

Hello good folk of Lemmy!

Recently been planning on setting up Bazzite on a miniPC to act as a HTPC to replace my Nvidia shield. I want to stream games to it, as well as use Stremio easily. Figured it would be good to have a remote for using it open apps of my choosing etc.. Afaik the best contenders are Flirc and Sofabaton. They both seem like both contenders to me so seeking some experiences to be shared for those of us new to HTPC world. Are these good, are there any other alternatives?

Thanks in advance.

I did not build this, simply sharing it.

Frankly quite surprised to see this has not been mentioned on Lemmy yet. Have been working on migrating away from Spotify to Navidrome for a while now, but wasn't completely satisfied with the UI of Navidrome. Luckily I stumbled upon this project and having used it for a week or so now i thought it would be a good idea to share it and give the project some love! <3

I plan on doing a detailed write up of how i went along with migrating to Navidrome as soon as I have all my playlists and discoverability in order, stay tuned :)

Have in the past years got rid of all cabled accessories to my gaming pc and the reduced cables is rather nice. However there is one thing im not sure of, should i connect my accessories over 2.4ghz or Bluetooth? Which is better for battery lifetime? AFAIK; 2.4ghz is superior when it comes to latency. The only reason im asking is because I started looking into how I can track the battery status of my devices, which doesn't seem to be possible/rather difficult (on Linux) over 2.4ghz.

The intative promises to be privacy-friendly with no tracking. Stating:

Your privacy is important. The WiFi4EU app ensures a private online experience with no tracking or data collection. Simply connect and enjoy free public Wi-Fi without concerns.

Will be interesting to see how this spans and plays out in reality. Looks promising too, did a quick scan of their builtin permissions and trackers and looks good too. (Scanning tool is called Exodus)

The naming scheme we followed, is based on the first letter of the car's brand—so for example, a Volvo gets a name starting with 'V', like Vincent.

Anyone else done/do this? If so, what was your car + name + naming scheme?

Heard about this website on the Smashing Security Podcast, checked it out and was pleasantly surprised of how well made it was! Personally work in IT and have to deal with some mail servers here and there, this definitely levled up my knowledge a bit. Hope someone else learns a thing or two too!

The first 7 minutes segment explains it. Its kinda self advertisement, but I think this is important. One of my favorite Gaming YouTube channels "Skill Up" launched a new website for gaming articles. The goal is to have articles without Ai, no advertisements, no sponsored articles, no CEO optimized content, to maintain a high quality content. I think this is really really important and a good step.

thanks for sharing the chart! I doubt they Sony takes a hint from this too, but it certainly shows other developers and publishers something about signing contracts with Sony...

Freaking Ironic using a VPN as a sponsorship for this video... VPN landscape is literary riddled with Dark Patterns. Surfshark are also guilty of applying these.

Highly recommend people have a listen to the podcast interview from Darknet Diaries with the founder of The Pirate Bay, it's highly highly interesting imo.
