I don’t think that’s actually a fair comparison. Palestinians had nothing to do with the treatment of European Jews in WW2, and we gave them a claimed “holy land” from others? Let’s be honest for a second, Israel has the same claim as British Occupied Palestine, in that the peoples actually living there have no say over their land claims and are getting killed in their own homes and in the streets by occupiers. Palestinians deserve to have land and life.

Thank you for breaking down the definition. I’d heard that about motors as “energy converters” but not specifically the definition difference of engines needing a “self sustaining fuel source”. All engines are technically heat powered motors, but only heat powered motors are engines then, right?

I didn’t realize they were just different words for the same thing. I was just sitting here thinking that I had a general idea of how a car works between the engine, drive train, transmission, etc., then I was just like “Why the fuck have I heard gas cars have a motor and why haven’t I seen one?” when I’ve been looking at it this whole time

My education is in automation and my current job works very heavily with pneumatic systems, so my usable idea of what a motor and engine is are very different from most people familiar with the terms. I would get some seriously strange looks for saying that a compressor engine was bad comparatively.

I don't understand why a car would have both if they both provide rotational energy, unless they just stack? I don't know what's going on.

Yeah, I’m posting from WefWef using lemmy.world for this. I’ve had some issues, but genuinely, nothing that the Reddit app wasn’t doing itself in not loading content for me.

Fediverse stuff takes an extra second sometimes since it’s not all hosted on a single instance, so it will sometimes take a second try to access stuff. As chronically online, it’s worth the second chance.

I’ve been losing my shit over Wefwef honestly, shit is really amazing, especially for a “side-loaded” app on a relatively small service, especially compared to the native reddit app. I’m excited for more features to come, and specifically that there’s just no ads on it, and shit scratches that itch that my iPad baby ass needs. More than anything, I just cannot get over how it allows you different experiences across these connected instances like kbin.social or sh.tjustworks, like an actual full link aggregator, compared to a single continuously self contained site feeding you it’s own content. The link to it is wefwef.app works for Apple and Android
