@dutchkimble @schizoidman Likely true. It may be justifiable in a commercial setting but in a home? Just how many HD streams would you need to run to suck up that much bandwidth?
I get regular calls from my ISP to upgrade to a 1.5GB package (we have #Fibe in this neighborhood). No thanks - the 150Mb I'm paying for is more than enough (but then, our kids have moved out so perhaps I'm not a typical household).

@FaceDeer @koncertejo @cmnybo ... not to be confused with #IceCatNV the Product Content company, who are definitely looking into #AI

@FaceDeer @koncertejo @cmnybo There's been a fork for years minus any tracking etc, called #IceCat. I don't see anything to suggest they're looking at #AI any time soon.

@gvlx @BaroqueInMind @pluralistic @technology @ajsadauskas The @internetarchive would be happy to accept your donation (I give regularly). Their scope is global, though based in the #UnitedStates, and they're not affiliated with #government or any #Capitalist #corporation. As well as their continuous #WaybackMachine web scraping they also have #Video and #Text archives plus some niche things like the #CoverArt archive.

@ajsadauskas @pluralistic @technology There's always @internetarchive . If you want a place to preserve your videos, and you don't require #monetization, upload them.
The #WaybackMachine might already capture your videos, but you don't need to take the chance, and their Video library is better curated.

@kevincox @veeesix So, why won't they release their business case showing that? They're banding about figures of $1M savings over a year, or maybe three years (depending on source) but nothing to back it up. A rather piddly sum given the size of their budget.
Did they even do a proper business case for it? It smells too much like this is just a payoff to his business buddies, and the fact that they'll be putting largely #unionized #ServiceOntario workers out of work is just gravy.

@CanadaPlus @RandomCanuck Even worse, they might contract it out to some corporate development firm, and spend big bucks for an inferiour app like they did with #ArriveCan.

@sik0fewl Just scanning the net and discovered that #Telus has backed down after customer complaints - they're back to burying the interchange fee in their charges. Of course, customers aren't really saving money as a result - it's back to everyone pays.
#CanadianTire has successfully made credit card customers pay for years by giving less #CashBack on their points cards (Canadian Tire money) for credit card payments. No one else seems to get away with this though.

@sik0fewl Nice to see a bit of movement on this but it's clear that the #FinanceIndustry in #Canada is still calling the shots given its limited scope.
High interchange fees are basically a tax on the poor. Everyone pays but high net worth individuals are the ones offered #CashBack or Points cards so get some of it back.
They're even horning in on essential costs as I wrote about a few years back http://galbraith-was-right.sheamuspatt.ca/2014/01/credit-card-issuers-elbowing-in-on-more.html

@OminousOrange @mooniyaw You can thank #JeanCretien for getting #Corporate money out of politics (at least, by direct donations). Surprisingly, #StephenHarper reduced personal contributions even further (a way of owning the #Libs as at the time their party was much better at attricting lots of small doners).
