In addition to a large instance being less likely to shut down and (presumably) having more resources, there's an additional advantage to being on a larger instance: you have a more comprehensive "All" feed. Since federation with a remote feed isn't established until (IIRC) someone subscribes to it, an instance with a larger user base should contain more subscriptions to a wider variety of content. Of course, not everyone will like that and you lose out on Beehaw content if you're on the two largest Lemmy instances, but I think it applies in general.

Ha ha. Not carpet, but the brown grass is pretty on-brand for Portland in August.
Interesting article. I live in the Portland/Vancouver area and never gave much thought to the generic Geeps running around in local and yard service. Now that I know they're geriatric Geeps I'll pay more attention to them.
Love the shot! Thank you for posting.
I've been to Bishop, but never to the airport. I found a photo of the baggage claim on GIS, which brought me to a Japanese travel blog: https://npo.mirokuyamanokai.org/2022/08/24/37887 - plus Google translate, of course.
Darn it, beat me to it :-).
Eastern Sierra Regional Airport in Bishop, California. Currently served by United Airlines CRJ's.
Most WWII fighters were basically large engines with the smallest possible airframe fit around them. The only armaments typically carried were guns, so they were light, fast and nimble.
I've always used Xubuntu. It's reasonably lightweight and the Ubuntu USB creator does the heavy lifting for creating persistence. The only downside is you have to have a running instance an Ubuntu flavor (bare metal, VM or USB) to use the tool.
Hey @[email protected], would you please consider cross-posting some of your military aircraft photos to [email protected]? Would love to have more people participating in the community.
Agreed. I'm old enough to remember when you could have a rational debate with conservatives on a foreign policy question or government budget priorities or economic policy. But how do you argue with someone who believes that millions of illegal votes were cast in 2020 or that Jews secretly control the world financial system or that white people are the real victims of racism?
You can't argue with someone who lives in a different reality than you do because there are no common points of reference. It's the most insidious effect of over-exposure to conservative media and I have no idea how people can be deprogrammed.
