It's more like: Traditional search pipes first page of results to the bot. The bot reads the pages from the results and tries to identify an answer or the best result from the set. Both the bot summary and the adjusted ranking for the results are returned. This gives a chance at a better experience for the user because they don't have to read all the pages themselves to try find the answer they were looking for. However there is a huge margin for error since the bot is underpowered due to Google balancing the amount they pay for each search with the amount they earn for each search. So there end up being misinterpretations, hallucinations, biased content etc.

If they used a top end model like Claude Sonnet 3.7 and piped it enough contextual information, the AI summaries would be quite accurate and useful. They just can't afford to do that and they want to use their own Gemini bs.

Yup and it's not even testing general reasoning. They didn't have money for that.

While I am not the biggest fan of the new Trek stuff, especially movies, I am excited about this one. I wonder if it will be palatable to non trekkies so I can show it to my gf and our room mate.

I'm loving this show!

I would love to like this but it doesn't provide anything more secure than the apps out there that already have end to end encryption like Signal. It doesn't stop a govt storing the data to decrypt later. They broke TOR and they can break this too eventually.

Our problems with VMs on Azure were:

  • The Azure Linux Agent incrementing versions and breaking stuff.
  • The availability zone becoming over utilized and our non reserved VM clusters fail to start up.
  • Changes to Azure automation runbooks breaking scripts and schedules. (unrelated to the stuff they warned about)
  • Azure invisible proxy terminating ssh sessions as inactive while doing long running tasks and having to use the awful serial console.

If you use the YT app instead of Firefox with an ad blocker, then that's on you.

All I can say is try be your best self. Try respect and love yourself. Try live up to your own standards and try to achieve the goals that you set for yourself. That kind of energy is attractive. Don't fuss with people who couldn't give a damn about you.

We are seeing on our corporate network lots of browser hikackers that connect to c&c and are used in botnet DDOS as a service. Once you install x software it sets up a persistent service that keeps modding chrome.exe etc

Firewalling the .exe that you installed does nothing to stop the calls to c&c
