We haven’t established a guideline for posting yet, I usually just put the source in brackets followed by “Paywall”, i.e. [The Athletic Paywall]
I was considering that $3.99/mo All Access bundle (for the first year) almost exclusively because they took over the Athletic (I also like playing Wordle). I wonder how many additional subscribers the Athletic is bringing to the Times, and if printing those articles will have a positive effect on subscriptions as opposed to their old sports department.
@headie_sage, will you make me a mod here so that I can refresh the sidebar and logo? Thanks.
Also, search is weird on Lemmy. If no one on your instance has looked up the specific community then you won’t find it in search. The entire url has to be searched by someone on your instance before it will show up in a keyword search. Part of the growing pains of Lemmy and a big reason why there are several duplicate communities across instances.
If you make a comment or post on that community I’ll make you a mod.
I also do have a Miami community on the sports-focused instance that I am a part of. Feel free to crosspost over there as well (or I can make you a mod there too if you want).
Wonder which NFL team/player he’ll blame for not being able to pay his Albany Empire staff and franchise dues. Will make an interesting defense in court.
NFL news this time of year is just players getting into trouble and “Too early to tell” articles, unfortunately.
Hey, just wanted to thank you for all the work you’ve put into filling out this instance! It hasn’t gone unnoticed!
Instead of waffling on which instance I should try to create the baseball communities I wanted to see on lemmy, I decided to start fanaticus so people wouldn’t have to make tough decisions.
The thanks go to you for starting this instance! I joined Reddit to follow college football and when I found this instance I saw its potential to become the default hub for sports-related discussion on Lemmy.
Additionally, given the recent Beehaw de-federation drama I think it was a good choice to make this sports-only instance. If we remain on topic, I don’t expect we’ll be affected by any de-federation.
This is an important point that many Lemmy users might struggle to understand. I find the possibility of de-federation to be detrimental to the popularity/sustainability of this platform. That said, having an instance dedicated to sports talk will insulate us from potential Lemmy fractures resulting from conflicts between different instance admins. It would definitely suck to be a beehaw.org account and unexpectedly not seeing new posts/replies on [email protected] or [email protected].
Thanks again for starting this all up and letting me add football/college communities here!

Hope this game doesn't come down to a FG for the Texans.
