Yeah, that way they also get a 3 hour nap
I thought someone here had mentioned that the environment and user executing the script at startup and you running the script might have differences. The reason it would have worked with systemd might be that the environment was loaded correctly?
People who come here to say Linux is not good or that this community is an echo chamber and get mad for pointing out obvious flaws in the OS miss two things:
-
The post is an opinion of someone. Notice the "I" in the title? That should give you some clue.
-
You are offended when people suggest that you learn and adapt to the OS, but you suggest that Linux should support your workflow without any effort on your part to learn the OS. Which is hypocritical to say the least.
Unlike old school graphics... you have no charm.
?? If my child HAD to work that means something has gone horribly wrong in their lives. In that case I would wish for them to at least get marginally better working conditions in a phone factory than the 0.10 Cents/Day that they would normally get enlisted (read: kidnapped) by beggars to beg for them.
How is it different in capitalism? You are forced to get a degree in something you can get a job.
Capitalism doesn't work unless you are rich.
Blame the companies who don't want to do anything that impacts their growth
if you asked me what we as a species messed up in, I would immediately point out how we should never have incentivized greed and lack of morals that Capitalism encourages.
it was fun when we had this 1st year of college. Unfortunately I don't yet have the space needed for it and buying a space is out of the question for me right now
Whatever you do, don’t start down the path of customizing a Linux distro.
Welp, I am already done with that one in my 20s. I guess I should have specified, I had at one point a running arch install that I used as a daily driver. My main session was xfce and I was tinkering with some openbox stuff. Long story short, an update bricked my arch install. Being a noob and also not having the power of nix back then, I basically lost all my configs and dotfiles.
Thankfully I never tinkered in Gentoo ever. I might try it out this year just as a bucket-list thing.
Nowadays, If I want to run arch I am running Endeavor OS.
(PS: I will try to one up you a more dangerous habit: Mechanical Keyboards. Thankfully my cheapskate-ass won't let me fall into this trap as much as I want to buy one... did I tell you I already have 2 of those in the house?)
Contrary to popular belief, electric power usage is not wasted if the PC is idle. PC draws more power when it is working at 100% vs. When it is idle.
It's like people switch off kettles or ovens that are not running... but if a kettle/oven is not running then it is not pulling power.
You're gonna see that even if you were pious at your own job. So you're only wasting time.

Would bet $100 now that the Meta-Rayban glass buyers are beta testing and feeding data for this exact outcome. It would have been obvious coming from Zuck.
