Think it depends where you work

When I worked in a company big enough that I didn't know anyone around me at the office, I only said hello to the receptionist

Whereas at companies where I know and work with the people in the office, of course we say hello to each other - we even hang out at each others houses sometimes

I'm pretty new to this federation idea, but if I'm on a small instance of Lemmy and browsing c/[email protected], would I still see degraded performance?

Are the instances mirroring the content of the communities hosted in another instance?

Yeah the latest "One Sided Fighting with the Post Office" episode is one of the best they've done imo
