Sounds about right. Comment sections almost anywhere online are a cesspit of racism, bigotry, and hatred. I’d like to say it’s all bots, and I’m sure there is a contingent, but there’s undoubtedly enough real people posting that shit, and it makes me sick to know people like that not only exist, but feel emboldened and proud.

I have never been so fuckin’ sick of this country. This is repulsive.

Finished Immovable Object: North Korea’s 70 Years at War with American Power by A. B. Abrams [2020] a couple of days ago, which ends it’s analysis half-way through 2020, and immediately started his 2025 book Surviving the Unipolar Era: North Korea’s 35 Year Standoff With the United States. A lot of rehashing in the beginning, but obviously understandable considering it’s a different book.

I would highly recommend Immovable Object to anyone interested in the DPRK, especially since it’s analysis is much more detailed and in-date than the (still good) 2017 Gowans’ book.

I work in a grocery store, so I'm assaulted by Christmas music for a whole month straight. That already puts me at odds with the season, and add into that seasonal depression and not being remotely Christian, Christmas just means less than nothing to me, really.

I've started reading through some of my lefty books the past couple of days again, currently reading Immovable Object: North Korea's 70 Years at War with American Power by A. B. Abrams, from 2020. I have two other Abrams books, but next up might be either The Jakarta Method or Killing Hope, I haven't decided, and also a re-read of Blackshirts and Reds.

I turned 32 yesterday, and I just want to at least have a better background knowledge than I currently do on some countries, and I'm on a bit of a DPRK-binge right now, having read Gowans a couple of months back.

This really is the final straw for me. I have no friends in the rural, conservative area I live, no political groups that align with me, social anxiety, and now a list like this is going around. I’ve never owned a gun before, but it’s not an option anymore. Safety was always an illusion, but that’s over now.
