Apple has been seriously underperforming on their AI strategy.

Really makes it easy to keep using their devices.

I do try.

Every single former co-worker has ghosted me at this point and even my friends have basically taken a "Hahaha, for sure mate, for sure, hey have you guys ever changed the conversation?" attitude when I bring up connecting me with people.

People suck lol.

My criticism is that it largely ignores the primary advantage of Fediverse services (Decentralizing services that are designed to operate Centrally), while mostly explaining what I've always considered to be the most pointless feature (Cross Service posting).

It's a mildly neat feature if you want to centralize your entire social profile under one account (which is my security nightmare but you do you), but its not really fundamental to using federated services and its implementation can be inconsistent and confusing.

Maybe have a bunch of "Lemmy" (or whatever) nodes arranged in a circle, the same color, with the same icon, and connected to each other through the middle of the circle (not connecting to the "fediverse", although I guess you could have a transparent "Lemmy" super imposed over it) Then have the users connected to each node. Or something...I'm on a bench and just broadly visualizing it.

The next trick is explaining the fault of centralized services in a graph.

Debian XFCE or Xubuntu LTS.

xfce is stubbornly slow at introducing new features, but it is absolutely rock-solid. Hell I don't think they've changed their icon set in some 20 years.

Debian and *buntu LTS are also likewise slow feature updaters that focus on stability.

At the risk of going against the flow here....no?

I keep seeing Lemmy posts talking about how Reddit is going hard fascist...but half the posts on /r/all are about Trump being a rapist, or celebrating CyberTruck arson, or Luigi memes, etc.

I deleted my Reddit account during the third-party app bullshit and exclusively view it from the old site or OpenArtemis, so I'm not exactly going to defend them, but it isn't nearly as bad as people on here claim it is.

I fucking hope they get something out of it.

If a business does an ethical thing and they benefit, it could encourage other businesses to also engage in said ethical thing.

IIRC Most major anti-cheat platforms not using kernel -level support linux these days. The SteamDeck forced their hand.

The problem is the developers. They have the ability to specifically block Linux and that's only going to change once enough people use it. As for kernel level that's an entirely different can of worms and I'm fine just not playing those games.

Some parts look fine, but those Ravenholm scenes look terrible compared to Vanilla HL2. Completely kills the dim, gloomy vibe that defined it when every light source is basically a floodlight.

You mentioned KDE as your preferred DE so I'd suggest the Fedora KDE spin. The Fedora team has been putting a lot of work into it lately and it's supposedly going to be upgraded to equal footing with gnome in the next Fedora release.

I respect the effort he's put into right to repair, and agree (in general) with most of the points he makes about it.

But I also think he's an asshole and we need a better voice for the RtR movement. I've seen him get into fights and strawman people on reddit as corporate shills just for calling his attitude abrasive.

I want a clean, advanced, well designed desktop and Im okay with redoing my work flow

Use Gnome

Gnome is cool but can it be slightly more Windows?

Use Cosmic (PopOS)

I want lots of customization, advanced features, and a traditional windows desktop metaphor

Use KDE

I want Windows and don't really care about customization

Use Cinnamon

Dude the Windows 9x look was fucking dope

Use Mate

Im installing this on a potato

Use XFCE

Any real benefits of jailbreaking a Kindle? I mean I know the "You free yourself from amazon!" elevator pitch, but what exactly does that mean?

I can already upload pretty much anything I want to it with Calibre. Can I add support for other ebook formats? Cooler utilities on my Scribe? Alternative ebook stores (yes I know where I am)? A user interface that isn't absolute garbage?
