I think the issue would be with rentals the responsibility to repair typically falls on the owner. Also with houses you tend to build equity (if you even care about gaining value on a home).

I'm a little unfamiliar with owning apartments though, like do you own the building and intend to rent out spaces or is it like a condo and owning a single unit?
