At least they're honest with themselves with the username. This is a troll account that's been making the rounds around various instances trying to stir the pot.

I really don't think anything has fundamentally changed with the community or platform since the decision to remove downvotes in the first place. I just don't think the population of Lemmy as a whole is large enough or mature enough to use them in a responsible manner and it will continue to be used as a "this isn't my fetish" button rather than any indication of quality or community relevance just like before.

I agree that the spam problem has gotten worse over time, but I really don't see downvotes doing very much to fix that. Most of it is from content sellers. They only need one post to do well to get their visibility and they almost always get at least that much so they still end up rewarded for the behavior in the end.

You have to remember that society is always telling you to live your life in a very specific way. Being an awkward teenager is a period where you're supposed to be confused and finding things out about the world and being an lgbtq teenager is no different. There's a surplus of teenage hormones that are new and confusing and you may not know what you want.

For lesbian women specifically, it's not easy to have the entire world telling you your sexuality is just going to be a phase and that one day a big strong man is going to come along and "fix" you because after all "everyone feels those feelings sometimes."

Disclaimer: I'm not a lesbian woman, just a bi guy with some experience with being confused about my sexuality.

I hate to break it to you, but porn isn't real life.

There are a number of reasons. First and foremost though I just want to address a common misconception that Findom(me) =/= Prodom(me):

  • Prodomme is what you would consider a stereotypical dungeon dominatrix. You are paying a professional for use of their time, space, and knowledge for bdsm services.

  • Findom is short for Financial Domination. It involves a relationship where a submissive(almost exclusively male) gives money to a dominant(almost exclusively female) and generally involves elements of humiliation of some form for the act. The expectation is generally that you will be treated as a human ATM with a complete disregard for anything else.

It's frowned upon because it's extremely exploitative and violates a lot of mutual respect tenets of BDSM play. Typically it's used as an easy guise which is low hanging fruit for lazy sex workers and scammers trying to make a quick buck and can easily get out of hand quickly for a site that leaves it unchecked. It exists in the same vein as Sugar Daddy/Sugar Baby play, but without even pretending to have a relationship beyond financial gain.

Findom is not welcome in most online spaces for a reason.

Mutual masturbation is an amazingly fun time and a great way to learn a lot about partner. There's always some form of power exchange when it comes to sex, but mutual masturbation is something that seems to level the playing field, so to speak. I feel that it encourages intimacy and communication.

-You get to learn about their porn habits and maybe some things you didn't know turned them on. -You get to encourage one another during the process if you're someone who struggles with dirty talk. -You can just touch yourself, together, or you can play with each other. -It's generally not performative and you're both just having fun and sharing something you would usually do alone.

This both horrifies and arouses me

I agree with pretty much all of your sentiments above. You can sell yourself and content while still being a part of a community.

What sparked this post was that all the posts in 'gonewild' and 'boobs' today with the OF trial links were made by the same media manager. From a moderation standpoint I don't know that you could ever really enforce rules to stop this without crossing the line into draconian or oppressive, which would ultimately hurt posting overall.

It's not pandering - it's a business advertising to you. You may as well be looking at a billboard.
