At least they're honest with themselves with the username. This is a troll account that's been making the rounds around various instances trying to stir the pot.

I really don't think anything has fundamentally changed with the community or platform since the decision to remove downvotes in the first place. I just don't think the population of Lemmy as a whole is large enough or mature enough to use them in a responsible manner and it will continue to be used as a "this isn't my fetish" button rather than any indication of quality or community relevance just like before.

I agree that the spam problem has gotten worse over time, but I really don't see downvotes doing very much to fix that. Most of it is from content sellers. They only need one post to do well to get their visibility and they almost always get at least that much so they still end up rewarded for the behavior in the end.

You're not blind. Downvotes were re-enabled again yesterday. There's been no communication from admin regarding it though.

You have to remember that society is always telling you to live your life in a very specific way. Being an awkward teenager is a period where you're supposed to be confused and finding things out about the world and being an lgbtq teenager is no different. There's a surplus of teenage hormones that are new and confusing and you may not know what you want.

For lesbian women specifically, it's not easy to have the entire world telling you your sexuality is just going to be a phase and that one day a big strong man is going to come along and "fix" you because after all "everyone feels those feelings sometimes."

Disclaimer: I'm not a lesbian woman, just a bi guy with some experience with being confused about my sexuality.

The first thing I do anytime a new poster posts OC is check their profile to see what they have there because it affects the nature of the relationship they are looking for here. In my opinion, if you are selling your content in any form then you have not 'gonewild.'

The spirit of the original sub was to allow a space for exhibitionism. When you allow it to be used as a vector for advertising then it will unfortunately devolve into the low effort posts that we've begun to see with a high amount of frequency lately. I don't think a full ban on advertising will be healthy for the community with as small as it is at the moment, but there need to be some checks put in place at the least.

I agree that all links in post titles, descriptions, and comments should not be allowed, but it should be okay for them to be in a users profile if someone chooses to seek that out. I think there should also be a harder stance taken on low effort engagement baits and OC posts where it's clear the person themselves are not the one managing the accounts.

I agree with pretty much all of your sentiments above. You can sell yourself and content while still being a part of a community.

What sparked this post was that all the posts in 'gonewild' and 'boobs' today with the OF trial links were made by the same media manager. From a moderation standpoint I don't know that you could ever really enforce rules to stop this without crossing the line into draconian or oppressive, which would ultimately hurt posting overall.

It's not pandering - it's a business advertising to you. You may as well be looking at a billboard.
