They certainly aren’t enameled with the prospect of losing business.

I’m still searching everywhere for the ability to block entire instances in kbin (on mobile). Can you please elaborate on how it is done? I only see magazine pages with the block option.

500 is a little bit too hot, in my experience.
Splotchy finish is not really a big deal. It will even out over time. As long as it’s not sticky or burning off, entirely, just use it.

The method I follow is one I saw on YouTube years ago : preheat pan to 200 for 15 min, put crisco on in a thin layer, then wipe it “dry.” Return to oven and bump to 300 for 15 more minutes. Take it out and wipe the oil “dry” again (you’ll see that splotchy pattern starting to form - this added wipe helps keep the patina consistent). Return to the oven and increase to 400 for an hour. Kill the heat after one hour and just leave the pan inside during cooldown. If you want to do another coat, it’ll be at the 200 mark after about an hour of cooldown.

That said, I have always slathered on too much oil on the bottom and sides and never wiped it dry or re-wiped the splotches after 15 minutes. The splotches eventually evened out and the exterior is nice and glassy now.
