Tldr; Apple is held to a higher standard because of how their products are marketed. They’re clean & “luxury” - like the OCD version of a company. If they came out with anything less, their customers would be appalled. They set that standard themselves tho.

Some people don’t like bigger computers - doesn’t matter the savings they’d get from buying a bigger machine. It’s a $50 difference for 2 inches of a screen.

Srsly I see some posts in this subreddit and I’m like so do you guys wanna just put your computers in museum cases or something & never use them? 💀 people can be gentle or super careful & still end up with this stuff.

I don’t have cases on any of my laptops & I chuck them into suitcases, my backpack etc & I’ve never had scratches OR dents on them. One time I busted a laptop in college cus it got knocked off of a podium/desk but nothing could’ve protected that lol. They’re meant to be used 🤷🏻‍♀️

Still can happen with a sleeve tho. Cuz you gotta take it out to use it 😅

At least it isn’t that noticeable. If you constantly live with your MacBook on eggshells then what’s the point of even having a laptop? It’s bound to get dented or scratched up if you use it like a true laptop just from diff counter surfaces etc. I’ve seen so many people who do things like lay down desk mats in public, wear gloves while typing, and obsessively clean their computers…seems like so much work and for what? 🤣

As long as you aren’t chucking it around then it’s fine. If you’re worried about dents then a sleeve or hard shell case can help; but sometimes hardballs hard shells can hurt the MacBook too (I’ve gotten fine dust/debris stuck between the case & it scratched tf out of my laptop casing 🤷🏻‍♀️

Depends on your usage - none of us know how it’s going to be used.

Netflix & light personal work? Air. Like the lowest model of an air.

Photo editing, video compression, code bases, scripts, CAD work? Pro all the way.
