I get this but also on the other side, if you're going to buy such an expensive device that has been made with quality and feels incredible in your hand, why put a case on it? Pros/cons but considering OP isn't willing to drop money to fix or replace, yes they should have put a case on it.

Maybe you don’t need it? I got into a motorcycle with mine, scraped my whole arm and wrist and my ultra didn’t even have a scratch on it. But maybe I got lucky with mine specifically 🍀
