I plan to go out in nature on my horse with a joint but am concerned because I’m not entirely sure how quick I’ll go from high to stoned to encumbered. The goal isn’t to be couch locked but to help with my anxiety. The previous time I got high it was somewhat light and the second time nothing happened. I don’t want to get stoned and be unable to ride back home 😂

related: any strains or things I should look for when using cannabis for anxiety/depression/PTSD? The first time was amazing for my mental health, and has helped me a lot in just that one time. I just would like to re-up periodically when I need it.

Edit: I live in a legal municipality with access to dispensaries.

Whatever weed you'll get, I'd definitely first try that strain / dose whilst home, so you know exactly what effects you get once you wanna ride high

I'm honestly with you on this one. I had read somewhere that if you smoke in a positive and happy environment it'd help steer the experience away from an anxiety attack (exactly what I'm trying to help with, lol). I'll just take a joint with me and relax on the terrace before I go out.

This is true with most psychoactive experiences too like hallucinogenic trips. You want to be in an environment you feel safe and comfortable in. Smoke on the terrace, wait 15 minute, judge for yourself if you are feeling in the right state, then do it.

Yeah. If you have to ask about the effects, then you really aren't ready to do it outside. Especially not when riding.

Definitely this. And look into a smoke stone like roach clip. Let's you re-light without burning your nose hairs off. Then you can take a few hits, save the rest for later.

It's worth noting that horse riding is more dangerous than motocross. I don't want to harsh your buzz if you're an excellent rider, but if somebody told me they were going to smoke a joint and then go motocrossing I'd be a bit worried about them.

Back when I didn't really smoke, (but would with friends who did) I would take one big hit off of whatever they were smoking, and be good for an hour or two. When I felt it wearing off, I'd hop back in the circle grab another puff.

Smoking is fast. You'll feel it quickly, but it will build up. Take a hit. Put it away for 5 minutes. If you think you need another one, go for it and wait another 5 minutes.

You should be good as long as you don't rush it.

Have fun and good luck!

The onset is pretty fast because it's going straight into your lungs and bloodstream. Within a minute of inhaling you'll notice the feeling.

I would recommend talking to a dispensary about what you're looking for. If that's not available, try talking to your dealer or someone who knows more about smoking in your local area so you can get some reputable information.

Generally speaking, it sounds like a mid strain is what you're looking for. Roll some .5g joints so you can smoke them in littler portions.

Last point is spot on, don't roll more than you need.

When smoking, I find 1-2 minutes to start feeling it, 5-15 minutes for peak effects.

Absolutely try it at home first. Don't go out on a horse for your first time.

As always, start low and increase after you've waited long enough to peak out.

Talk to your budtender, but also be prepared to experiment, because everything hits people differently. Strains will give you an idea what the effect may be, but it won't be a certainty. Indica vs Sativa will probably be bullshit, terpenes and thc to cbd will probably have more of an effect. All of which can vary from producer to producer, and batch to batch.

You definitely should do quite a few smoke sessions at ho.e first and experiment yourself, everyone's body is different. Generally I find indica strains to be a relaxing feel good type deal. Sativa is more for raising your energy and alertness which can cause anxiousness if you smoke too much but that's honestly a general symptom of being too high anyways. I would recommend If you do want to smoke horseback to smoke dope with very low THC content around 5-10% so it becomes more difficult to become 'encumbered' but you still feel the high a bit.

I'd definitely stick with smoking over edibles as edibles are known to hit harder for longer. Some people seem to have very high tolerance with edibles, but they absolutely wreck me.

If you're hesitant to smoke you can use .510 vape carts or a dry flower vaporizer, but go slow with the carts as they're pretty potent.

I used to be THC gang, but I'm finding balanced 1:1 CBD to THC to be just as enjoyable with less mind fog, and likely less chance to get way to high and panic (higher CBD than THC is also good, just might need to smoke more to hit your personal sweet spot).

As others have said, start low and go slow. Smoking hits you pretty quick so it's easier to dial your dose in and stop if it's getting on top of you. If you're worried about constantly putting out your joint, you can always use a pipe and really control your dose - but I personally don't like pipes.

Usually smoking has rapid onset and the affects/intensity wear off much faster than edibles. For me it's about 2 hours - but if you're new to smoking cannabis it can last several hours, so definitely get familiar with it in a safe place before getting high af in potentially stressful/dangerous situations

Happy trails!

My friend dosed me with 300mg as my first edible and was high all night and into the afternoon. It was awful. I’ve heard good things about 10mg doses, but I’m concerned that I’ll be stoned for too long afterwards. I’m looking to smoke because I’ll be sober to drive a few hours later.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I would avoid driving in the after hours. Having a good rest before getting behind the wheel is a better choice.

Definitely ask the bud tender at your dispensary, and smoke small amounts at a time after trying the strain you get. Keep in mind that it can exacerbate things like paranoia and anxiety, so definitely try it at home before venturing out while under the influence.

Two things that will help bring you down are sweets and caffeine, so it's a good idea to bring some chocolate/candy and coffee with you in case you get overwhelmed.

I cannot recommend talking to your budtender about what effect you’re going for, what you’re trying to prevent/alter, and don’t be afraid to ask a lot of questions. Also, defo try this at home first.

OP reporting back:

Got a 1g joint and went out this morning. It took 30ish minutes to feel anything and was high for about 3.5 hours. Definitely got way more lethargic than the first time and would’ve preferred to have more an upper. Next time I’m trying Indica and hybrid after that. Looking for that upper and creativity spike 😛

It took you 30 minutes to feel anything?! That's surprising. I've never seen a person who wouldn't feel the effects pretty much right away with the peak usually in about 20 minutes.
