Exactly. It would almost be a better sell if they DIDN’T mention those two. I refuse to watch anything these guys touch unless it’s all released/finished and has a good rating.
Goyer is another one. Too enamored with the scent of his own mental flatulence to properly respect source material, no matter how glaringly superior it may be to his own leanings-du-jour, ends up making disposable pop plastic.
At least three body problem is a finished book trilogy, so there’s hope.

Looks like they’re taking liberties with most of the characters. That’s probably fair. The characters were the weakest part of the books either way. Only Da Shi had redeeming quality in the first book, and it looks like they’re keeping him at least.
I love the book trilogy. I’m curious how they will manage to adapt it, especially the second and third books.
NoInterestingly, I think the source material is flawed in the same way as the GoT TV adaptation: it feels rushed, especially toward the end.
One thing that really bothered me about the books is:

The entire plot hinges on FTL communication via quantum entanglement, which seems more fantasy than sci-fi to me.
Still, there are a lot of fun ideas in the books, so I'll probably give it a chance.
At least it has an end.

!Didn't like the first book much so I never gave the other ones a shot. The first book felt completely unbalanced and, as you said, rushed, and the whole plot about that far away civilization is so overconstructed that the book really fell apart at all the seams (if there were any). I don't get the hype around it.!<
Brother. I really disliked the first book too. Never read the others. It's hard to find people that will admit to not seeing the Emperor's clothes with this book. You can find a few on goodreads if you dig.
Its just bad.
I'm hopeful. It's a good book series and D&D have proven themselves to be able to adapt material well. I don't think they'll get bored and trail off with only 3 books.
