Welcome to our virtual third place, The Café.

Come on in and make a new human connection over a cup of coffee (or Teh Tarik). This is a casual community, do whatever you want, share your oyen pics, your frustrations, and even organize a weekend picnic with the community. The world is your oyster.

Rules are simple, be kind and civil with each other. As with any other café, rude patrons will be kicked out.

Friends laughing cause I have PC parts ready to go for 9 months already but not building it…

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Eh, I would be worried about the warranty ticking down. Still holding off buying parts because of that lol.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Gg forgot about warranty

I f’d up. Doing a poster and reference is all over the place and powerpoint doesn’t have a bibliography software built-in like word. Shit!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

For some reason I always can't trust those auto generation/ OCR function. I prefer to types things out manually.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

It’s not OCR, no image to go by. Taking extracts from our manuscript (in word doc) and putting it in a poster to present at a conference.

LOL WINDOWS 11 is so expensive it's oppressive. The keys sold online are they legit? anyone had their windows deactivated after purchasing those fake ones?

Is piracy allowed here? If so you have easier options that do not involve paying

Mixed feeling about Sync

First it's a good app, ngl it feels like home.

But the pricing of removing ads is ridiculously high, at RM98. The current price for Ultra subscription is also very steep, at RM82/year(or RM6.83/month). The app isn't even in parity with the browser UI and yet he priced it so high with no regional pricing in mind for such a barebone app. I will get the yearly one but only after everything is parity with the browser UI, it's crazy for me to pay for promise.

On the other hand, i'm looking at Boost lol.

The new Sync for Lemmy is great! Tho the ad free option is abit pricey

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

what the duck, it was only like 20 ringgit before

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah, right now it's not only no regional pricing, but every other place the price is much more expensive than USD. It's supposed to be USD10.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

gotta praise Steam for regional pricing. only gabe understands us marheins.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think google playstore also have regional pricing, but dunno what happened to this one

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

devs can always opt out and set their own regional prices. same with steam.

only that when they do this it's always to set prices close to currency exchange rate, not accounting purchasing power like steam does.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

This one a lot of region appear above the currency exchange though. Heard the current price is around USD19.99 but region like us and also i think Euro it's around usd21.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

That is for ultra, so got a lot of extra tools. The dev mentioned there's 3 tier, normal(with ads), pro(without ads), and ultra subscription(without ads and extra function). Pro will be out a bit later, i think until beta is done because there's still no ads implemented haha

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The ad free option is out, it is 19.99 USD

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Ahh shit, you're right. The app advanced two version while i'm asleep lol.

But yeah, very pricy in MYR just to get rid of the ads.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I gave sync a try earlier and definitely did see ads. Ngl, I've gotten somewhat used to Liftoff (although collapsed comments reopen once they're offscreen) and it's not too bad.

I'm looking forward to trying out Artemis once it's out since it also supports Mastodon.

I fucked up. Was trying to open the sim tray on my phone with like a plastic tip. Tip broke off and filled the hole. Was even dumber and tried to scrape it out with a staple and I think I just clogged it deeper. Can't shake it out. Anyone got any ideas? About to give up and go to a repair shop when I'm back from vacation.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

IF you have a piece of fine gauge wire OR fine tipped tweezers, you can try again, BUT I can't assess your mechanical skills so I say leave it for now because I have no idea what's the state of the reader pins in that slot now.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Silly idea but... is there a vacuum cleaner handy?
