Just got on steam and early access boiled down to "You want early acces?" Yes. "DOWNLOADING"
This game has a rootkit for anti cheat, doesn't it? I seem to recall reading that somewhere.

From what I remember from playing the earlier betas and the splash screen of Tribes 3, this game had or will have Easy Anti Cheat on. I don't remember whether it is "kernel level" or a rootkit.
I know that Helldivers 2 is the big release that came with nProtect GameGuard. It was the rootkit and it was known for using unscrupulous measures like keylogging. That might be the one you were thinking of?
They do both work on Wine/Proton fwiw.
