It's wild how media illiterate reactionaries are. He couldn't be more Fox News coded without literally having their logo on his chest with a Ben Garrison label. These goobers are going to go blind staring at the sun expecting the teletubbies baby to greet them.

"This white, blond, blue eyed man who mercilessly murders anyone that mildly inconveniences him, and considers regular humans vermin is clearly communist"

The guy literally has superpowered sex with an actual nazi eugenics experiment while wearing an american flag cape. The show is not at all subtle.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 6 months ago (3 children)

Well, duh, the Nazis were leftists. National socialism, buddy smuglord

"all Bad Guys are bad and therefore the same thing as all other Bad Guys"

[–] [email protected] 17 points 6 months ago

That's pretty literally what they think communists do.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 6 months ago

guaranteed that all these media illiterate chuds also believe that the humanities are worthless

[–] [email protected] 16 points 6 months ago (1 children)

To be fair, some of them aren't media illiterate, they're saying all this shit in bad faith. That quote about the absurdity of antisemites comes to mind - they know what they're doing.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 6 months ago

I don't have me sartre quote meme on this phone.

The show about a ragtag group of revolutionaries fighting against the corporate-controlled weapons of war that harmed them and keep "order" is actually about how corporatism is just the wrong type of capitalism bro.

[–] [email protected] 35 points 6 months ago

Actually it's about how

spoiler for last 2 seasonsAOC can explode people's heads.

[–] [email protected] 33 points 6 months ago (2 children)

[–] [email protected] 38 points 6 months ago

Literally named STORMFRONT

[–] [email protected] 22 points 6 months ago

You mean like the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact? smuglord

[–] [email protected] 39 points 6 months ago (3 children)

Today I learned superhero worship and idolizing strongmen is Communist.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 6 months ago (2 children)

If that weren't true, why are communists literally worshipping a guy they call the Man of Steel? Checkmate tankies

[–] [email protected] 17 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Oh no they know about my small gilded votive figure of Stalin to whom i genuflect and make offerings of coca cola and severed small business owner noses!

What "book" are they talking about lol, what modern communist writes utopian apologia or fantasy?

(not the genre of fantasy, I meant like, fantasizing about communism as a dream rather than a real historical struggle)

Autobiographies like Guevara's are based on actual historical realities

The Dispossessed comes to mind, and the subtitle is An Ambiguous Utopia

They're definitely not talking about the magic system in Das Kapital right??

[–] [email protected] 26 points 6 months ago (2 children)

I'm a communist who's writing fantasy I-was-saying

[–] [email protected] 13 points 6 months ago

lol sorry by fantasy I didn't mean the genre or setting, but like Mary Sue type writing where communism wins just because the writer wants it to, bad choice of words there.

I'm trying to write some communist fantasy myself! I think leftist writers put in a lot of effort to understand the history and be realistic about it. I've never seen anyone just champion communism because it sounds nifty

Homelander poured all of America's milk into his giant Stanley cup.

I know for a fact that the CHUD that made this has not ever read a book in their life. They just assume that books are bad and full of the things they don't like, like communism and women.

There’s only like 2 instances of communism in the show

  1. The Sandinistas ambushing Contras, the CIA, and their superhero mercenaries in Nicaragua
  2. Soldier Boy being captured by the Soviets

Maybe 3 if you count the Pol Pot-esque “revolutionary” anti-colonial army that killed Kimiko’s family before grooming her into a soldier, but it was never stated what they believed.

There’s not even any metaphors analogies related to it

[–] [email protected] 27 points 6 months ago (1 children)

The organization that killed Kimiko's family was called the "Shining Light Liberation Army," so I think they were Gonzaloites.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 6 months ago (1 children)

That's what I thought but the 2nd season showed the cult as uniformly Asian and Japanese speaking. Asian Latina representation still eludes us.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 6 months ago

Asian Latina

Just say Philippines...

[–] [email protected] 27 points 6 months ago (2 children)

I avoid anything with superheroes like the plague

[–] [email protected] 31 points 6 months ago (1 children)

The Boys is actually a very good show. It's not your typical superhero fare.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 6 months ago

It’s your typical superhero flare but with extra blood and corporate hierarchy

[–] [email protected] 24 points 6 months ago (1 children)

X-Men are good sometimes, depends on if Grant Morrison is writing. Watchmen is good.

But I don't blame you. It's all childish fascist fantasies with very rare exceptions

[–] [email protected] 20 points 6 months ago

I think pretty much all of Morrison's cape comics are great, though I wouldn't exactly say they're materialist or anything.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Hate agreeing with a germany-cool emoji haver.

Big heartbreaking

"I don't trust the gubmint" mfs love to trust the gubmint when they're talking about its enemies.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 6 months ago (1 children)

So is the original poster a lib or a chud? Everyone is assuming chud but in my experience chuds tend to get that Homelander is a stand in for Trump, they just think Homelander is based for killing people

Maybe it's an age thing, maybe boomer chuds are different

He could be an anti-communist lib who thinks Trump is a communist Russian agent

Did somebody say homander?

I haven't actually seen this show.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 6 months ago

Homelander is Cristiano Ronaldo. I will not elaborate further

[–] [email protected] 17 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

People the point is just that superman is good and homelander is bad. That's it. End of point.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 6 months ago

Communism in real life is hot? Nice.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 6 months ago (1 children)

it’s tv. Do people expect it to start the revolution? Everyone sucks here

The only superman that ever saved the world in a tranformative, durable was is the Red Son superman. Capitalists shook.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

I'm not agreeing with it defending the meme, but I do feel like no-one has mentioned that it's not comparing communism to Homelander, but implying that communism looks good on paper but is infact evil in real life. It's got nothing to do with the coding of the characters themselves or whether Homelander is capitalist or communist.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 6 months ago (1 children)

We fucking know what they're saying and we're pointing out how stupid it is when the show is explicitly overtly talking about American capitalism.
