Well done, Hongkong-Shanghai Banking Corporation
Why are blaming the actions of a London based multinational company on China?! Really?!
That's... Literally their name.
It's a bank with their origins in British China, headquartered in London, with a large market in mainland China.
Bro, really. You've got to learn how to take an 'L'
We both know you edited that.
You originally wrote: Hong Kong Shanghai Bank of China
Then when I called you out on it you changed it to Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation
The general history is not disputed.
Scams from China? Thatβs so hard to believe.
I question this article a little. The writing is over the top with some of the descriptions, mistakes like D.M/H.M, the level of personally identifiable info dispute trying to appear they are protecting folk's identities... I'm not saying it is wrong or isn't true, but it doesn't read like reputable journalism. I'd like to see it show up in at least a few other publications aside from this substack before I'm willing to accept it as is.
Also, regardless of what is happening, exfiltrating personal banking info and posting pictures of it online is gonna get some folks in deep trouble...
I agree with your sensible degree of caution, given the context. Itβs good media literacy.
Caution is good, but I didn't get a similar feeling from the article.
