My wife and I don't need steam decks, my wife and I don't need steam decks...
Edited to add: bought two >_>
Do you want one? Will you use it? Could that money bring you more happiness in the long run used in some other way?
These are the kinds of questions I ask myself before spending >$50, usually prevents me from regret.
Resistance is futile...
... they really are dope af. Best purchase I've made in a long time. I can get hours more in because I'm not tethered to the desk, so while my kid is on his tablet or playing with lego, and my wife is watching TV on the couch, I can be right here and glance up and participate. If something comes up, power button. Right back where I was when I push it again.
It honestly pays for itself in the power saved by not having my gaming rig on for the hours at a time. I shut it off as soon as I'm off work. Might not be a lot every month but it adds up quick.
Seriously, get one. You can get the basic version and a decent SD card for it and you're golden.
It's 20% off 512gb Steam Deck, the 64gb model is 10% off and the 256gb model is 15% off.
*cries in country where Steam Deck is not available*
What country? Here in Aus they show up regularly on eBay. I bought mine from a computer shop in Sydney, because they are registered as a proper business rather than some random on the internet. Paid slightly more for it, but I wanted to be covered by the standard 12 month warranty that all businesses must offer over here. Otherwise if anything goes wrong I'd be dealing directly with Valve.
Steam has a Top 100 on Steam Deck list that highlights some great games: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/decktop100
It's also worth checking out http://gg.deals/ and http://www.isthereanydeal.com to make sure you're getting the best deal.
High on Life seems like a good, fun piece, now for 50% off. Considering it is still fairly recent (December 2022 release) and well rated, not a bad deal at all in my eyes.

Anyway, I am going for Hogwarts Legacy. I was holding back until they introduce some patch fixes, and now I can even save some sweet cash.
Enjoy Hogwarts Legacy! I'm by no means a Harry Potter fan, but I had an absolute blast with it.
I think High On Life is on Gamepass, so you could probably check it out there for a month, for less than 50% off.
Absolutely loved High on Life. Started it not expecting much but it was on game pass so I wasn't going to lose anything. Ended up barely being able to put it down.
You need to not mind Justin Roiland and that kind of humour because it's literally the entire game.
Completely stupid fun game.
Hogwarts Legacy was worth it alone for the beautiful reconstruction of the school; there's so much detail in it. Felt magical exploring it after having read it as a child.
HL is a ton of fun. Honestly I haven't even finished it yet, I tend to take games pretty slowly and since have gotten D4 and TotK so there's been a lot on my plate, but it's been fun.
Can't wait to see in a few hours maybe how my wishlist looks like
Is there no dumb game/event this year?
I’m just so surprised that dark souls finally went on sale again.
I'm so far behind on my games backlog, but I'm sure I'll buy something. Steamdeck is on sale and well worth the money.
SAME. I still need to finish Chained Echoes but I'm tempted to go ahead and get Octopath 2. I don't NEED Octopath 2 but I want it!
Probs going to get Elden Ring finally. I have a lot of good games to play through this summer.
Got it earlier this year man and didn't expect to enjoy it, but it's truly an awesome experience. Dropped it for a bit to play totk, but I'll for sure be back on it when I finish.
I stopped for a while after hitting a wall 140 hours in, and there's still a silly amount of map left. I finally got to the capitol a few hours after that. It's crazy how big the world is.
Plenty of others have finished significantly faster if they wanted to, so it doesn't have to take that long. I'm not a completionist in terms of quests or collectibles or anything, but I do enjoy exploring every inch of the map, and have no need to rush. There's a lot of game there.
Same with me, maybe 105 hours played, finally reached mountaintop of the giants, the difficulty just keeps increasing. One way to make the game fresh is switch up your tactics by changing your armor and weapons and strats. I rocked the golden halberd for quite a while, then some greatsword, then switched to a 1hs holy sword. I like the game to Diablo
It's really a great game.
Going to let things gel in my head a bit, but I'm pretty sure I will get:
I generally don't bite on games until they hit $35 or so. Waiting for Spiderman and Returnal to go lower. There's a bunch of smaller games I've been contemplating for a while that I will pick through when I get around to buying stuff, might get one or two extras.
I picked up the Yakuza Collection. I played 0 on PS4 and loved it, but never got around to the others. It's one of the few games where I spent the time to complete side quests and mini games and actually enjoyed doing it.
Also got The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky - I've heard good things about the Legend of Heroes series, and want to start at the beginning.
I've been very tempted to try Steins;Gate and Stray, but I'm not likely to get around to them until the next sale so will probably just leave them until then.
@Whiskeyomega Little bit disappointing, as Final Fantasy 7 Remake is still expensive to me. Don't want to pay more than 30 Euros for that game, as this is not a new release. I'm not in a hurry anyway and learned to control my inner Force. (in case you wonder what the hell I'm talking, currently playing Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, which I got from last event for 4 Euros or so)
I'm waiting until the full series is out. If I'm just shy of retirement when that happens ... fine.
I did a video of some games that I already own, but I think are worth checking out.

RimWorld and High on Life both have my eye. Praying for my wallet that's the only damage I do this year
Rimworld is fantastic if that genre of game interests you.
Dwarf Fortress is also on sale if you want something a little more intense and clunky, the QOL changes for the Steam version modernize it quite a bit.
Was thinking of finally getting Stray, though I haven't checked the sale price yet. Will see what the wishlist has too!
Might see if there're any good co-op games to get, looking at add something to the collection to play with wife and friends.
Maybe not what you expect, but Serious Sam 4 is less than 8€.
I had lots of fun with SS3 and a friend, now we are buying this one.
It's 25% off – well worth the price tho :)
Yea, looks like it's the lowest ever price so far! So not bad.
Time to get Boltgun. Wish it was a little cheaper but that’s ok
This was my purchase too. I've been really into the boomer shooter renaissance that's been going on.
Also got the hammer watch four pack for me and some friends.
It's so fun! You won't regret it :)
FYI...It looks like they are doing the "explore your discovery queue and earn a card" thing, but at least for me the new PC client doesn't let you know you have a new item in your inventory.
