There vas a high chance of a Soviet invasion even, with troops of both sides on the border, ready. In the period there were many incidents on the border. The Soviets even backed a military Coup d’etat against the Tito Block in Yugoslavia.

The USSR attempted and planned multiple assassination plans against Tito, even including Biological Weapons.

Yugoslavia turned to the US and cooperated with them somewhat after the split, and imprisoned and sometimes killed pro Stalin people in the party.
