I just walk in and say 'Good Morning' in passing, no need for an answer or waiting for them to stop talking. Then I go settle in for the work and if they want to chat they will probably talk to you then. If you were there first I guess you can take the initiative.

MODERATORS
It's can feel awkward, but it's okay to speak over them for a simple "good morning" and maybe a wave. Youre not taking over the conversation.
I know for myself, it can be hard because I don't want to interrupt, but I have to remind myself that it's okay sometimes. I don't need to wait for them to let me speak.
Just don't be a dick and take over the conversation. Say good morning and let them go back to what they were talking about.
I agree with other comments, just throw in a good morning as you're passing your coworkers. I like to raise my hand sometimes (as a wave) and even try to smile.
